Small request: can you re add the light background shading that each other row had on the old planet list? I feel like it helped readability quite a bit.

Dear Alex,
There should be a battlestation/star fortress fight in the main menu mission mode.  :)

Are there plans to update the weapon refit interface too? For example, adding design type fiters, damage type fiters, stuff like that. The large number of weapon types makes the current weapon menu quite inconvenient after heavily modded run. Like this mod:https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=29327.0

Nothing I'd call "plans" but it's something I'm keeping an eye on. As you say, it's something that comes up more in a heavily modded run. (And does come up in vanilla some for hybrid/universal slots, it's just less of an issue overall.)

Is that a new item?

I'm not sure which you mean, but I think the answer is "no" :)

Can we also add "Distance to nearest gate" to search condition?

Hmm. I'll keep that in mind! I can see the value in that, but I also don't want to clutter it up too much.

What about 2 numbers for Distance? ->
33/14
Current (location)/(From) Core
?

My feeling about that is that the cost in making it less readable is not worth it. And how would sorting even work, etc? It gets real messy.

@ attached pic in my post: I know we get the markers etc. now, but quick pin/highlight which shows these planets first if the list is reset may be helpful I think? (symbol could be a small stylized pin which changes colour from text colour to blueish or something? Maybe something stylistically closer to the repair disable/enable toggle... Or the pin is highlighted after clicking and rotates o.O  ->  could also generate a map marker as long is it is pinned/highlighted?)

Hmm, I'm not sure that the "pin" functionality is useful enough to warrant making the UI more cumbersome this way, especially given that markers are a thing.

I don't think the old list had that? The screenshot at the end of the post certainly doesn't.

So this would go live when we move to .98?

It does, though. The backgrounds for each entry alternate blue-black-blue-black.

Yep! (Or whatever version number the next release is.)

Hmm, ty! I must've turned that off at some point before taking that screenshot, that's a bit odd but *shrug*, good to know :)

Hmm, I'm not sure that the "pin" functionality is useful enough to warrant making the UI more cumbersome this way, especially given that markers are a thing.

Tbh I don't care much about the core distance thing but since someone suggested it...
If it's displayed as x/y, just clicking the left or the right number could sort it closest to/furthest away for the chosen zero point center thing, so from current position or core.
Click x once -> distance closest from x, click x twice, furthest from x, alternating clicks between x and y would switch between their respective closest results/finds.

Well, the pin thing would be redundant but /maybe/ it could be faster to quickly mark planets? Idk, but it does seem potentially useful to me, I assume it could be faster if I filter planets and "click click click" mark them. The pin could also be like the star/exclamation mark in circle we currently have in the info menus but just for the planet search filter thing... But yeah, it's still redundant with the new markers (pog!) stuff.

-> If it is not a pain to implement, if it doesn't waste too much time implementing it, if it doesn't clutter the UI, if it actually speeds up search (qol!)... If it's not useful and just clutter, nevermind. I assume but don't know: It will be more useful in a mod run, in vanilla I don't grab that many planets, but I still compare a lot of planets and systems. I am really looking forward to experience the new marker and UI stuff and whatnot, I <3 qol.

Perhaps display estimated accessibility would make sense? Since we care about distance to core worlds mostly about the accessibility it provides

I mean it does alternate by line in your screenshot.

I hear what you're saying, yeah - it's kind of a balancing act, what's worth the complexity it adds etc. It's usually not "something adds clutter, so don't do it" - it's more, what does it bring for what it adds? And my feeling for these is that the tradeoffs aren't great.

Perhaps display estimated accessibility would make sense? Since we care about distance to core worlds mostly about the accessibility it provides

That would make sense, yeah, showing that directly rather than distance from core.

Oh haha, you're right! I totally just didn't see it.

Would it be possible to have star system flag filter ?
For example when you specify multiple resource types it would show you star systems where there are plants with each type of resource.
Also it would be good to be able to specify how many planets minimum are in the system.

Such search is currently possible with "Explore the Galaxy" mod, but it's not maintained so it will stop working sooner or later.
It's very useful when you want to find star system which can be self sufficient.

Hello Alex,

This is great. Love the planet search feature. If I may suggest also adding a checkbox to filter ruins that are explored and those that aren't. This way we may identify planets we forgot to search the ruins of.

Thank you

Or at the very least a different image/icon for stripped ruins.
(Oh wait you meant the initial ruin exploration not techmining)

Hmm I think all it would need would be something like "Show distances from..." with the default being "Current position", but then you could select a star from the map to be the one that it uses (perhaps via a pop-up map). That'd be useful for things like checking planets that are in range of a Cryosleeper, or using Askonia which is roughly the center of the map and thus can be a proxy for accessibility.

This would avoid issues like having to display two different sets of numbers, sorting, etc.

Will we be able to search by planet name?
