Do you have any plans to add mech type fighters in the future? Mechs for ground battles already exist in the heavy armament picture, would love if you add some to space battles as well!

Starsector tries to be realistic... And whilst walkers as ground units make sense for hazardous terrain (or something), walkers in space make no sense. Cause what the *** are they walking on and why?

Would be a cool addition to the Marines.
I think if proper conquest / map painting mechanic is implemented, that could definitely be a thing!
Because right now you can't really "conquer" a colony, can only bombard and resettle, which is not amazing.

 Mechs could be practical as powered EVA suits built for construction and repair in very dangerous environments.

 Instead of being amazing combat fighters, they could offer unique support.
 Like boosting a ship's maneuverability and speed (effectively portable thrusters that can move from ship to ship as theneed arises).
 Or repairing armor, a function otherwise impossible for standard crew in pitched battle.
 
And these effects should be limited, with the battle mechs having to return to the mother carrier to restock on fuel or armor paneling. Just like bombers, where restocking depletes fighter recovery time.
