After 3 and a half years since I last asked, I got my improved codex! Navigation will be much more useful compared to what it is right now. On top of the sim improvements, I'll likely be spending more time in sim than in the game proper once the next update comes  :D
(Frankly, I already spent a lot of my game time in sim)

I've thought about it, for sure, but it gets rather troublesome. First off, the Codex is something that needs to work outside the campaign, and with the exception of fleet members, the information there is static. Second, there's already a faction info screen in the intel panel; having two separate ones would be weird. Third, for viewing faction planets - the way the visuals for those are customized would make it a fairly sized pain to try to reproduce in an outside-the-campaign context. I could see expanding it in this direction at some point, and I certainly understand why one would want that info there, but it's also something that's fairly well outside the scope of the feature.

The game is number-heavy design, so make sure that all the information is approachable makes sense. There are some wiki on internet but make built-in wiki is worth the effort. At least, player get 100% valid and updated info.

I also parecetiate thinking process, how to present values.
BTW: Battle statistic mod, should be somewhat included in game. Or at least make better support for parse-read precise data.

Here is a tip for further  QoL / desing feature : current fighter system uses in fact two systems. One old based on Weapon Cost, second new based on Ship Deploy Value. I believe that it should be simplified - merged  into one system, >>>  the new one.
Which means, Astral base deploy cost would be about 25. Adding fighters on board, deploy price will go up. One consistent system easy to understand.

As you have found, in years of development, there are thing which are obsolete and have to be cut out. Makes ship building (ship design rules) more understandable makes better game >> more people would be  dare  to try it.

This is 100% one of the reasons Roider Union does not have multiple manufacturers. I would absolutely have some ships be by "Korovin Shipbreakers", some by "Rockpiper Engineering Society", and so on, but nobody would know those were from Roider Union unless I spelled it out in every name. And who wants to look at "Rockpiper Engineering Society (Roider Union)" - holy character count, Batman!

Icon is a placeholder; works for everything except for planets, where it gets way more complicated because there's no spreadsheet where you can easily tag the rows with where they came from, so that's not happening. This took way longer than I was hoping it would, so hopefully it's worthwhile :)

Is it possible to have a codex entry for all the different characters? It'll be even cooler if it's an official looking report prepared by an intelligence officer. I remember Daud was shorter than the player character's expectation maybe we could have a canon height reveal. Also the stories of all past known naval battles from the scenarios chronologically ordered with clickable links to notable characters to go to their respective entries. Then those characters would also have a 'related' on the right menu to all the significant battles that they were in, this could even have mod support to have random characters have randomized entries, such as what rank they were in the Hegemony during XYZ battle, lost their toes and retired from being an officer to do salvaging, their height and weight and other random stuff that will make the universe more alive.

Made an account just for this comment, sorry if i seem sus. (But I have the best intentions!)

Ah, I appreciate the enthusiasm, and yeah, if the Codex had a mountain of cool content in it, that would be pretty much by definition cool, but it's also talking about a creating mountain of cool new content, which unfortunately puts a bit of a damper on the idea :)

(Ah, in the descriptions do not get in the way of the stats in any way. And leisurely reading longer descriptions is one of the points of the Codex; I would not want to make that inconvenient by adding an extra click into the mix.)

sry mb, didn't mean to intrude

I thought it would be a request fitting for the context of codex overhaul, cause that is the place we will most likely spend a lot of time reading... And that kind of setting that would only affect font size would be a neat thing to have together with that update.
