I don't know if this is a bug or not so I'm asking here. I just now noticed after what 50-60 battles that while using the Nova Class with a neural interface the extra missile ammo doesn't apply, at all. And upon further testing that power doesn't work on any ship or any missile across the board. I can't tell if this is a mistake of a way to prevent getting the double effect on more than 2 ships by staggering their release, which even then doesn't seem wise given how doing so is a minor handicap for that unit. With this in play I functionally lose a good chunk of reason to even have the skill and it heavily dispowers part of the benefit of a combat centric Neural interface build.

The extra ammo from missile specialization and the extra combat readiness from combat endurance only apply to the ship you start in, and not the ship you are linked to.

Okay so it's intentional. That kind of sucks honestly, especially for The Nova which would benefit from it tremendously, and in fact the automated ships in general in several builds.

Yes and you can find where it tells you that in the hullmods tooltip, it's one of the main reasons why I'll never use Neural Link even with the buffs it received. My main problems with it are still present such as no UI support for it, your character should be duplicated to the linked ship so you can see the stat changes better instead of having to switch yourself between them or using a dummy AI core. I also don't see how letting the player give Combat Endurance or Missile Specialisation to the linked ship would be overpowered, you could just get Officer Management and have 2 more officers that can bring Missile Specialisation and Combat Endurance.

Also, you cannot deploy the secondary ship pre-transferred.  This bit me in a fight against Tactistar plus other Indies (before that hotfix) when defending my battlestation and I did not have enough DP to deploy both linked ships, and deploying Radiant only would deploy an unofficered Radiant without linked bonuses.

You could transfer before the battle

No, you can't. Not into an automated ship.

Fun fact Neural Link/Interface ships benefit from Support Doctrine until they are in the battle. Meaning you can have a 100% CR Nova piloted by the player without taking the combat endurance skill.
Don't tell Alex and we might be able to keep that little exploit for a couple versions until he notices.

How's that an exploit?

Neural Link/Interface isn't supposed to get SD bonuses. This is obvious when looking at their Deployment Points, they don't receive the SD decrease. A NI Nova will have a DP of 44, if it was getting the bonus from SD, it should be 35.

My understanding is that Nova would be a NI ship solely for the purpose of deploying it in battle. When it flies around in your fleet on campaign map, it's just a regular, unofficered ship.
