Didn't know that! I'll look into it. Thanks for pointing that out!

No problem! Now that I have the 'reverse gear' ability and a pretty humongus fleet plus a network of colonies in the sectors I'm mainly exploring/investing the anomaly is quite manageable, I even almost ran out of supplies and had to use a conveniently placed planet op to craft some extras, so that's pretty nice.

Though, the academy filler quests seem to not include the hazard pay for travel distance either?

Glad to hear it! And, yeah, the slipstream reversal ability is a game changer for sure ;D

Right. That's mostly just a case of me not wanting to overwrite those quests without a better reason, for the sake of maintaining compatibility with new mods and future versions of the game that might also change them.

Oh well. Do I just have to grind them with a lone exploration ship (once I finally find one for god's sake), or is there a more efficient way to boost academy rep?

I typically just complete far-flung academy objectives when I happen to be nearby anyway, but this mod definitely makes it harder to rush the academy questline. The quests are the only way to boost academy rep as far as I know. Some of the tips on the nomadic survival page might help a bit, if you haven't read them already.

They don't have a time limit? I see.

So is there any kind of reward for reaching EXTREME status on the anomaly? it seems a bit far-flung as you have to make probably a few laps around the entire sector while unable to resupply via normal means, it's definitely doable if one prepares a fleet for it and extensively uses slingshotting/slipways travel but, well, you get the point.

Personal new high record. Got 20 lys from desperately running up-stream of a slipstream trying to find a sub-stream that leads back to civilization and ran out of fuel a few clicks out but thankfully drifted into a friendly heg-controlled sector. Would be a shame to die to the Persie bastards after such a glorious tour.

Absolutely gorgeous.
I got 1.2k data and literally crashed the market, causing +2 availability somehow(It still is one hundred per piece thankfully)
I also:
-tricked a pirate fleet into resupplying me
-told a scavenger cap'n that, despite me being out of town for probably a year at that point, her company got absolutely crunched by the market and she'd do good to scrub her ID and get the hell outta dodge.
-tricked ghetto-GLaDos into shutting itself down
-Dodged a head-on collision against an Ordos floating down the same stream I'm going up in reverse gear.(I really should get to talking to Ms. Midnight but I want to farm more alpha cores. The greed of humanity, eh?)

Hello - mod looks wonderful, definitely what I need to shake up a new playthrough. I installed and started looking through the intel, and noticed some of the planet ops need certain skills to interact with. I use Second-In-Command, which replaces all the skill trees except combat. Do you think there will be a compatibility issue there?

Hey guys, sorry for the long delay in replying! I've been neglecting the forum while travelling.

@Bigsky: Thanks for sharing your adventures! Seems like some top-notch shenanigans  ;D

There is, but it's nothing special. Reaching the final anomaly stage is mostly intended as a challenge for those who want to earn money by investigating the anomaly. You get one navigation data when you reach the last stage, and anomaly data accrual per LY traveled doubles again.

I haven't tried Second-in-Command yet (although I'm looking forward to doing so) so I can't say for certain, but I expect that skill-locked operations will never be unlocked. I suggest turning off skill requirements in the settings for perilous expanse.

Can you talk about what ships you used for this?

I'm loving this mod but the one thing that bothers me is how some civilian ships seem penalized in exploration with no real reason, the prime example of this is the Venture, this seems like it should be a great exploration ship, and it is in vanilla, but due to it being a civilian hull, it seems unusable with this mod if you want to do any real exploring. Perhaps I am missing a mechanic though.

I've used Ventures plenty of times for exploration. It has worse fuel economy with this mod, as you say, but it offers much more than that. This mod makes survey efficiency and cargo capacity more important, so I'd argue that the increased importance of the Venture's cargo hold and survey equipment outweigh the loss of fuel capacity under some circumstances.

That's just my take, of course, so let me know if you want to know how to override the fuel-protection category for individual ships. It's pretty easy if you're comfortable with editing CSV files.

Glad you're enjoying the mod ;D

Maybe I'm undervaluing cargo space, and overvaluing protected fuel. I'll test it out some more.

I got this error not sure from what it crashed the game while I was vibing with the hegemony. Amazing mod by the way, appreciate your work. Also Aliens aren't real.
