Legion XIV availability? And how do you fit them?
« on: February 05, 2024, 12:18:49 PM »

I wanted to clear some info about this. As far as I understand:

 - no NPC fleets use the Legion XIV and you cannot buy them from Hegemony
 - You can find (up to 4? Always 4?) derelict Legion XIVs in random systems
 - Bar Historian can provide a Legion XIV blueprint

As for the fits, just post what you got. It's kind of in an unfortunate place of being split three ways(ballistics/missiles/fighters) with nowhere near enough OP to get it all, even after the buff(which to be fair is likely by design)

I always seem to find a Derelict one in a medium or high danger ordo system.

I forget where specifically I found one this playthrough, but it was a Derelict and I found it incredibly early on.

Like Mishrak, in my last playthrough, I found one very early on and it was pretty much my flag ship.

From memory, the loadout I use: Two Squalls, HVD, 2 Heavy Maulers, 2 Flak cannons, the rest Vulcan cannons for almost impenetrable missile defense; two broadswords and two daggers. The daggers are really good as finishers.

With the squalls, I've found that a single HVD is enough additional pressure to get an enemy to drop shields, where the double maulers do pretty good at breaking the armor. I don't use double flak cannons just because of the OP cost.

Legion XIV was the first capital ship I ever found in Starsector. Derelict in some distant system.

As for fits, if you want to crush 6 Ordos without breaking a sweat:

I haven't found one yet in this patch but I had a screenshot saved of my previous build. It's one of my favourite ships.

For this one you basically ignore the fighters completely. They're just point defence and light pressure on your opponent while you get up in their face with the missiles.
I found it extremely effective but I'm no ship loadout wizard.

Not nearly as impressive as these monstrosities however. That's incredible!

This looks ridiculous on paper, so this is one of those builds that you just have to try.

3x Heavy Needler, 2x Heavy Autocannon, 4 Vulcan Cannon, 2 Hammer Barrage, 1 Claw Fighter, 2 Sarissa Fighter, 1 Warthog Assault Fighter.

Armoured Weapon Mounts (S)
Hardened Shields (S)
Flux Coil Adjunct (S)
ITU
Expanded Missile Racks

If you're not in a position to have so many S-mods, Hardened Shields and FCA are pretty expendable.

(If you're not yet at the stage where you're dealing with heavily shielded enemies, then feel free to substitute more HE damage, or even Thumpers are pretty good in this situation.)

Impressive, wonder how effective that would be in current patch. (Also it's 5 Ordo because of the game's "mercy" mechanic)

here my fit

in this build you're PD platform.
along with PD elite skill you would immune to most of missile

require Impact Mitigation and Polarized armor for more toughness.

Warthog will be your renewable armor and double as frigate hunter.

Main weapon choice depend on range that you want too engage
Heavy autocannon
Heavy Needler
Hypervelocity Driver
or . . . Heavy marchine gun ?.

Playstyle kinda simple just hold until you have enough hardflux then burndrive into their face let vulcan join the fun
and seal the deals with cyclone (or hammer barrage since it got buffed)

I've been going with 2 Longbows, 2 Daggers, 4 HVDs, 1 Mauler, 2 Hydras and Vulcans in all the smalls. Bombers are great in frontline carriers because of the quick turnaround. Hydras because I don't like managing my missiles and they can be left on autofire and last most of a battle with little loss in effectiveness.

My Legions are never quite as tough as I'd like, so I give them long range.

I tend to just slap my builds together, so I can't say it's great compared to others, but it's worked well enough for me.
