Fire Giant Persean League world
« on: February 07, 2024, 02:22:43 PM »

writing this down as an idea for later...

Prelude:
Spoiler
A Persean League system orbiting a blue giant or something. Maybe should be red giant. Was googling the exoplanets from the NASA database, couldn't find any blue giants at first glance... I mean, not that I couldn't find... Didn't bump into them. Blue giants are rare... Will try to basically make a high-gravity Persean League world occupying an area close to the sun without any moons and an active Ion Storm. Or something...

found this, whatever the heck this is... Maybe this is what Starsector meant by having Hybrasil have a "white star" or whatever that means being orbited by a bunch of cold planets. And yet being the size of a gas giant. Maybe just a perspective or gameplay thing. Unknown... This blue star is significantly hotter than the sun and yet smaller? Odd.... Need to further investigate...
Found this one too https://exoplanets.nasa.gov/exoplanet-catalog/3508/kelt-9-b/

These blue stars are odd, they are significantly smaller than I would expect them to be. My knowledge is greatly incomplete. Judging by from what I've seen on those wikipedia articles, it appears that stars cannot be just easily segregated into blue giants, blue supergiants, red, orange... Whatever... Or maybe they can be, hmph... Not really that important for the sake of this...

Persean League doesn't really have that many military worlds. Contrary to Hegemony, most likely due to the fact that Hegemony is a military-centered faction literally built around their ability to bomb and oppress everyone. So, it's only natural that they will be swarming compared to every other faction in the game. Nonetheless, due to their patrol sizes these multiple military planets do not really matter in the long run. Nonetheless, they can still be quite potent when defending their territory, mostly due to the disappointing performance of pirate fleets.

After buffing the numbers of fleets and testing re-balances in terms of quality re-shifting of doctrines... Significantly affecting the strength of most importantly Tri-Tachyon... I guess it would be time to give some worlds that would be able to show off with those gigantic fleets. What perplexes me is how large these fleets can be when attacking a player owned colony in the form of an expedition? I remember Sindrian Diktat expedition with the access to a Cryoarithmetic Engine being very significant, and those were pre base number and base number increase increase. So, now they will most likely be unstoppable or something. But considering the low cost of bribes and the potency of planetary defenses as well as general strength of space stations and possible intelligence of the player... It's probably for the better. Was always disappointed with how weak expeditions were. Couldn't really prepare myself using them for Remnants. Too much of a difficult curve.

A fire giant colony, based on what I read, would be a colony that would be hiding beneath a cloud of alkali metals or something??? And some other strange objects that are good at absorbing the sunlight. Making the lower clouds colder than the ones above... Causing significant logistical issues, permanent darkness... Horrifying conditions. I guess it'd be cool if I was able to give gas giants the ability to have ore deposits in very high temperatures. But eh, I dunno how to figure this out programming-wise...

The giant's role would be to serve as a military anchor for several other very important Persean League worlds with far less dangerous living conditions. Maybe something like a distant frozen world, a minor volcanic one and a water one. Persean League's worlds should feel somewhat alien, but peaceful at the same time. The hot giant itself would be described as being violent, but below being relatively reasonable. Very dangerous, and monstrous. And horrifying, but predictable in its behavior, allowing for stable habitats

The reason why the fire giant would serve as a military base is cause Persean League needed both a planet with significant volatile deposits and it was the only very hot planet in this highly valuable system. And it will be equipped with a Cryoarithmetic Engine, as well as... I dunno, a corrupted Nanoforge? Building an industry on a very high risk planet sounds stupid. But the thing is though that the other 3 planets inhabiting this system would be very focused on commerce. Being able to more than enough pay off this gas giant's huge debts.

The system would be patrolled by swarms of military vessels, as the hot giant's military bases would be not only supported by the item stat increase, but also a generally large population. As the fire giant's lore would be about it being an extremely old and economically invested planet from before the Collapse. That had a lot of resources pooled into it shortly after the Collapse, mostly because it was always planned to be a military base. And the plan of it being completed had to be simply finished before things went into extremely awful territory. And because the system the planet was in was relatively self-sustainable, they were completed momentarily.

The point of this colony would be to give player an easy way to face off against large amounts of Persean League ships, but also give them a space to roam around, robbing colonies whilst still playing a risky game. As Kazeron with its large fleet doesn't really protect anything with the exception of itself. So, you don't really play around their fleets, you play into them. So, the aspect of infiltration is smaller? Eh, dunno.
