Is there a Pirate-king playthrough?
« on: January 26, 2024, 12:42:32 AM »

I'm curious whether the base game or some mods cater to this, with specific quests. Or is it just a matter of being hostile with everyone except the pirates. Are there any special gameplay features, perhaps around Pirate stations you could set up yourself, or ordering mighty pirating raids, and such?

That kind of just sounds like Nex with the pirate start.

I don't think Nexerelin adds quests, or if it does not for a pirate playthrough.

Underworld Mod.

You've got 2 pirate starts there.

1 is you're Onesimos Loke's grandson I think (Loke is the guy Kanta betrayed to become pirate king).  You've found grandpa's derelict infamous & unique Infernal Battlewagon capital ship, and can upgrade it during the course of the campaign to remove the massive amount of D-mods it starts off with while also adding on fighter wings, massive super-large weapons, etc.  The con is that you start off with everyone hating you, and you've got to spend time building up relations with every other faction to even be able to dock on their bases.  Expect to spend your first few cycles relying on independent planets keeping you supplied until you can do enough system bounties to get back to neutral with a few of the major factions.

2 is you're well connected to an elite TT-backed pirate faction that basically goes around extorting merchants, demanding credits, supplies or specific weapons/LPCs in order to avoid a fight.  They're an interesting "faction", basically the remnant variant of pirates.

Industrial evo adds the privateer base which sends raiding fleets to systems you are hostile with and gives big stability bonuses if you're friends with the pirates.

I have underworld mod but somehow missed these options. I have started as a nobody on a quite derelict Q-Ship (that I exchanged for a Tramp freighter).
Thanks for the Privateer base, I have Indus Evo, so I'll make sure to use it.
