I know I shouldn't write something like a request, respect to the dev and all. But if there is just a tiny thing that would be really neat to fix for gameplay is that ships shouldn't toss out their flares, I mean unguided flares, like the one Colossus (amogus) is using. This used to happen with the Gremlin a bit, now I see this happen with Buffalo MK II in the sim. Ships toss out flares causing reapers to explode and killing them, even though they wouldn't hit at all. It's just kinda comical how ships increase their hitbox and I feel like the game would benefit if there was an AI flag to not use flares against unguided missiles if they seem like they're not going to hit.
The thing is that unguided flares are already kinda bad, and this just makes them really really bad. I feel like unguided flares ships should generally have beefier stats to justify them basically having an awful ship system, kinda like Aurora vs Dominator. Note that Aurora costs significantly more DP to achieve similar stats, albeit expressed in different strengths and weaknesses.
However, I do understand that this is more of a lore thing. Flare-using ships are meant to be somewhat bad, because they're dated and cheap... Which is kinda sad... That no one bothered to make them useful... For those 200 years... And wouldn't they go extinct... But, oh well... Never mind! It doesn't really matter, people don't like to talk about the hound...
