I was thinking that it might be cool to be able to decide what ships get the bonus from skills with limits for optimum gain like fighter uplink. Mostly because sometimes you might be dragging along ships like tempests and shepherds and its a little bothersome that they take away skill power from the actually important fighters.
In theory you'd choose what ships would be affected and see the percentage of improvement you'd get.

If it would take a lot of work to implement it might not be worth it, but if it happens to be relatively easy, it would be pure upsides I think.

as fuel for thought, i would like to point out that the skill in question here, "fighter uplink" and "carrier group", are only taking effect in battle. Wouldn't it be possible to make those skill take effect based on fighters that are deployed instead of total amount of fighters in the fleet?

both skill are about the communication saturation that would happen when too many fighters need to coordinate each other or contact their carrierat the same time as they would all using the same communication frequencies. undeployed fighter would not need to communicate with deployed fighter.

in situation with more fighter than the limit, that would make regular battle acceptable as you can chose which carrier to deploy so you stay within the limit during the battle but the abuse of the retreat option would cause the bonus from the skill to plumet as all carrier would be forced in combat.
