Thog's [REDACTED] - More Remnant Drones

Like light blue funny autonomous drones, but can't get ENOUGH of them? Want to fight a huge modular drone super-carrier to conquer and add to your own stupendous autonomous fleet? Or maybe you want to spam a ton of small, pesky, cheap drone frigates instead?


Then you've come to the right place. Again.

Currently, the mod adds a total of 13 different new remnant drone ships, along with six fighter wings and six weapons, including a number of hybrid-mount energy-based flak weapons and a small-slot single Dragonfire DEM.

Not an in-game error, but you forgot to change the promo image in the files, it still is the Domain's promo.

Also, the Dragon missile has no sprite and there aren't any .proj files named "dragon" in the mod's files, so I'm very certain firing the Dragon Pod will cause the game to crash

I like the look of the ships. But yeah I'll wait a bit until all the bugs get hashed out before giving this a try.

However, the Dragon should work perfectly fine. The reason why it lacks a projectile in the mod files is because it just uses the vanilla's dragon projectile.
Sorry for the second post, i meant to edit my previous one and somehow screwed up. Forums most definitely aren't my strong suit.

Regardless, update has been released with some minor hotfixes, promo image change and a new small missile launcher, as well as adding the current ship lineup to the battle simulator.

Something that is missing for the redacted are logistics ships. I did a run trying to be a AI that escaped from Tritech, but always have to use human crew at some point. I made some quick smashed together to use, but it looks horrible.
Similarly there is no replacement for crew when it comes to salvage and planet survey, but my attempts have failed until now.

Good point. I don't know if i can add raw replacements for crew because that stuff gets kind of tricky, but i can definitely add some autonomous logistics vessels come next update. I released one today but it doesn't have logistics in it, so the next one will.

Oh yeah redacted logistics ships would be dope :D

Also if you are looking for a mod to solve your human crew problem, I recommend AI-retrofits which adds different robots to replace crew need for salvage, surveys, raiding and even allows for Robot / AI (like player controlled) Colonies that do not need those pesky humans for AI Empires ;)

Yes it sounds quite tricky. I will ask around on a few discords if such code already exists somewhere.

For surveys of planets an alternative to messing with crew is to add an item based on the planetkiller, just instead it being a survey probe.
For salvage a skill that goes out like a sensor burst, just smaller that consumes all and then returns to the ship would be an option there to sidestep crew numbers.
For post battle loot its the hardest, there I have no idea.

yep all i had to do was scroll to right and there it was, i just love fighting against capitals it adds that layer of hardship and challenge XD, thnk you for making my playthroughs more exciting

Did you ever find out if this can be added mid save?

And how are the ships?  Are they pretty balanced for their power by their requirements?

Absolutely excellent mod, I love it to death.. The only minor gripe I have is that the energy flak weapons behave a little oddly when it comes to flak. Normally one would expect either proximity or time fuzing, going off when it reaches the point it expected the target to be- I have no idea if that can even be programmed in, I'm a terrible programmer, but it would make the flak WAY more deadly by comparison. Gives even more reason to fear the [REDACTED].

I love the mod concept because scarier blue ships would be cool (to acquire somehow?)

...but cannot tell from the thread's subject line or page 1 (such as in a changelog) as to which StarSector app version this mod is compliant to.
