trying out a high tech only game and got my tempest outfitted with a heavy burst and pulse laser + aug engines + 10 vents, and i'm left with 4 OP, which can go towards a fairly useful missile launcher or 800 more flux capacity.

so, what pick?

You could stick a single missile on there, like a single atropos or something and use the rest for capacitors. Im not so sure about how good an idea a heavy blaster is on a tempest tho.

Heavy blaster works by itself well if you rig the Tempest as a pure fast assault/attack ship. I have a whole fleet of Tempests rigged as AI-controlled mobile Heavy Blaster turrets. They are fast as agile (especially with the Hull mods I dumbed on them.) They only have issues when getting swarmed by massed enemies. I'm doing a quantity over quality fleet 10 Tempests with only 1 HvyBlstr each will kill most things fairly well without taking too many casualities, if any. Not exactly FP efficient, but it gets the job done.

You say quantity over quality but using tempests sort of makes it quality already.

Well, I meant in regards to vessel loadout, not base tech-level

I would go with the Flux capacity, that gives it better long term performance both in offense and defense, they really need this once they go up against cruisers and capital ships.

Yeah I'd go with the capacitors. The Tempest is agile enough that if it want to take down fighters it just hunts them down and blasts them...
