Persean stations
« on: October 28, 2023, 08:19:58 AM »

I'm surprised that I haven't seen a single mention of this, so I think it is worth bringing to light.

To put it simply, I have run over enough stations of all kinds to feel that the Persean stations are an outlier now, and not by a little bit. It's almost entirely because of the frequent and endless DEM spam, although the Mjolnir battery is quite nasty too. So perhaps the frequency of missile spam should be lowered, but do they just fire on cooldown with infinite ammo or do they refill? Maybe lowering the number of launchers could be a solution so ships aren't affected by altering the missile cooldown itself. I also think that the AI's inability to engage stations properly is compounded with this type of station. It spins too fast and they don't know how to follow it or get anything done, and just get picked off by DEM barrages. Persean fleets themselves are annoying but tactics can be applied, ships can be picked off, and most importantly they don't have infinite missiles.

I would go so far as to say that even a Persean battlestation is comparable to a full strength Nexus, maybe even more dangerous. But where do the stations rank in your book, and do any of them need to be adjusted?

the AI has an infinite amount of missiles (similarly to the REDACTED), they also have an endless amount of fighters (however that doesn't really matter that much, considering how most fighters are just kinda obsolete). This causes the Persean League stations to be obnoxious. On top of high armor stats negating most weaponry, the fact that it has the ability to vent flux in combat, and not just rely on its turning. And the fact that the AI kinda likes to wait for it to move to face them rather than pursue its face to keep punching it.

Ironically what I like to do... Is grab a bunch of big ships that can distract well... Something like mules with heavy armor might do, and then run in closer with a Sunder, a Tachyon Lance, energy weapon mastery+ and a high scatter amplifier... Preferably s-modded. And then just shoot at the station up close... The ironic thing is that a lot of stations have significant blind spots, and also like... Holes in their shielding... So, if you get close you don't really need anything more than just a Sunder drilling into the station. Don't waste your time on a High Intensity Laser though, cuz a Tachyon Lance is way better at like fighting bigger ships due to access to EMP... And if you're asking why do you need a high scatter amplifier... Well, it's cause it slightly increases damage and also allows you to deal hard flux damage to shields... And firing from further away doesn't really help you. Cause the closer you are to a station, the harder it becomes for it to fire at you.

Another strategy that I could maybe recommend to you is cobra spam... But truth is that most missiles will get shot down and Herons are really bad at surviving space station's long range fire... So doubt that would work. Paragons exist, but they can stat checked due to being slow... I've heard someone just spammed tempests to beat a space fortress. I'm sure there are a lot of other strats. But personally I find the HSA ass blaster quite interesting.
