How do i increase ram allocation?

i found a page on this fourm about how to increase it but it was not specific enough how exactly do you do it?.

also you should go into the discord where there are links for the newest jre8. i use the shenandoah version which seems to be the best/most recent.

Im really lost/  i put the vmparam file that the post game me in the starsector folder. is that what your supposed to do. the instuctions on that post are terrible. iv got absolutly no F%%%^6g clue what there on a about.

yeah you just replace the original vmparams file in your Starsector directory and that increases the maximum RAM the game can use depending on what version of the file you used.

if you want you can make a copy of the unmodified file somewhere else first.

 if you want to know what specific values in the vmparams file do your best bet might be discord. there is sure to be someone there who knows what each entry does.
