Is the save file truncated somehow?

Try using the save .bak files (in Starsector/saves/<save folder name>/, rename campaign.xml.bak to campaign.xml after backing up the existing file by that name, and try loading the save again). Could also upload the original campaign.xml file and I could see if it really is cut off, or if the error is elsewhere.

sent over the base xml, and did as you advised. Save loaded fine thanks!
