Member of the "silent majority" here - been playing since 2012. What a pleasure it's been seeing this game progress. Alex, David, everyone else who helped - sincere thanks!

This game is what I would have wanted when I first played Solar Winds (and later Escape Velocity).

Also considering everything else great about it, the combat system is so unexpectedly great.  Tying together shields with a weapon 'heat' mechanic so it's not just constant weapon spamming and/or waiting for shields to regenerate was an incredible decision.  It both simplifies the system from having shields and weapon energy, and also makes it more complex.

I kinda wish more space games with shields did this now.

Amazing work!

(Aaaah, I loved Solar Winds! I didn't get to play it *too* much but it made a big impact on me. I still remember how it felt to get ... whatever hyperdrive was called in it, possibly "hyperdrive" :) - and travel to a nearby star. Just the realization of, wait, the game world is so much bigger than I thought, that really stayed with me. Such a cool game!)

Having basically finished my first run of this patch I gotta tune in on the vibe and give huge props to Alex not only for releasing a grand patch of content but also for polishing all its rough edges right after its release. ^_^

For me personally it's the systemic things that deserve the spotlight: Firstly the Hyperspace Topography event spiced up the downtime in exploration quite a lot to make it more palatable in the early game. Secondly the S-mod changes really encourage experimentation a lot now. Thirdly the factions finally have fleshed-out identities and I'm looking forward to continue exploring their "souls" in David's upcoming stories. The Shrines and the Usurpers questlines were a great introduction to the Church and to the Diktat respectively and I'm hoping each faction will get a comparably good one, too.

I once again pledge to buy the game again once it hits on Steam, it has been way to much value for a small purchase I did in the mid 2010s. I also know like 3 people who I will recommend to buy it once it hits there (they're waiting for 1.0/Steam even though I think the game has been worth the money for ages). I also expect to buy any and every expansion that may be eventually released.

Hyperspace topography is pretty neat. Now i can track reliably where the slipstreams are.
