This just cost me a bunch of supplies from deploying my entire fleet for a fight my flagship alone could've easily handled.

Context: An independent fleet (actual independent-flagged, didn't swap to pirate) decided to attack me. Probably something to do with the system I'm in having a blueprint I paid someone for? Regardless, I wasn't expecting them to attack, and hit '3' to trigger an active sensor burst at exactly the moment they caught up with me, putting me instantly into 'Attempt to disengage' with no option to say "Wait, no, that wasn't the context I thought I was hitting '3' in!"

This has happened to me a couple of times and it's super annoying, sounds good to me.

Isn't that just you failing to understand the situation?

'Attempt to disengage' pretty much mean you are trying to run away.

It is possible to run but you will usually fail. Failing to run usually result in getting a back attack.

Sometimes you just misclick and want to undo your accident.

There is the reload your previous save button. A bunch of supplies can't be as devastating as losing your fleet.

Losing a lot of supplies is more devastating than just deploying the few ships you would actually deploy against the enemy in a regular deployment and spending just a few supplies, though.

This is the flashy pirate bar mission where player needs to enter a system infested with cranky, hostile Independents flying powerful fleets that warn first then attack (like patrols do with ships without transponder) and find the blueprint in a wreck, crate, or survey for ruins on a planet.  The independents related to the mission are like Gollum looking for "precious".

Not sure what you imply with that statement. My fleet has 5~10 capital ships worth around 2.5 Million~5 million credits. Deploying all my ships cost 500~1000 supplies, worth 50,000~100,000 credit. My fleet is clearly worth more.

Retreat battle automatically deploys all, including civilians, and the enemy is generally behind your ships.  Normal battle, player picks what gets deployed in a head-to-head fight.

The back button should just always be there for any engagement option (like it already is for joining ally battles or in devmode).

I agree to that, there should be user prompts to important decisions, which this one is as if you didn't want to fight. Not only you might loose the fight that you accidentally started, you also loose rep
