(huge spoiler) About unremovable d-mods
« on: May 10, 2023, 02:23:26 PM »

Please make it so that if a ship has d-mods that are impossible to remove, you can still restore the ship (for a much lower price) to make it look normal (purely cosmetical).

As a side note, if some of those special orange ships drop as floating derelicts instead of post-battle recovery, they lose all special properties. Which is lame.

On a modding note, it would be nice to be able to conveniently modify floating derelicts that drop from battles. ATM it is impossible to tell for certain where those derelicts come from. Can't even match them to ships that were in a battle IIRC.

I wouldn't mind if investing in both Hull Restoration and Automated Ships would let you repair them. You're telling me I can integrate one of the most brilliant minds of the Sector inside of the ship and it can't help me fix it or help me learn how to fix it, as one of the few Captains - if not the only one - capable of understanding how automated vessels function and methods of restoring hulls in worse shape without an industrial shipyard on hand?

I'd like to think with both of these talents you'd be able to work out something to fix up the damage at a shipyard proper.

Or just make these D-mods removable.

Honestly yeah. You can weld double armor on Atlas and boost shield efficiency on the new capital even further, but can't remove terrible vent covers on the same capital?

At least make it so that if D-mods can't be removed from a ship, then it can't gain them either. As is these ships can still gain D-mods from being disabled in battle, and these D-mods are unremovable. Because they also have reckless AI which causes them to be suicidally aggressive in combat, this makes using them in combat unpleasant.

I think if Hull Restoration at the least worked for these it might serve to make the skill more appealing in general, since people don't seem to currently value it as worthy of being a capstone.
