How do I prevent the deactivation of my game code?
« on: May 07, 2023, 12:38:01 PM »

First of all, I'm not sharing the game code with anyone, it's solely for my personal use, the thing is, I'm going to travel outside my country and I already activated the game in two different computers, I don't know if there is a automated system that prevents the code of being used in several machines, or if the place I'm at influence this, can someone help me?

Don't worry about your code deactivating. There isn't any actual limit to how many computers you can use it on.

The YouTuber Seth did a review of Starsector and put his game code on it for anyone to use. I was one of those who tried it and I haven’t needed to put my own code in yet. I was actually confused it didn’t ask for a code even after I deleted the old version and downloaded the new one.

Activation status is retained in the registry, not as a file.

Yep, this is another reason to leave older versions installed - it retains your activation key in memory, so downloading and installing updates is a piece of cake.

(Just, ah, keep the key itself stored somewhere, eh?)
