I foresee lots of collisions and more time spent maneuvering than actually fighting.

Consider a wider viewpoint: if, as gunnyfreak desires, the collisions are modded to be sufficiently frequent and destructive, and the hulls are modded to be sufficiently sluggish and just-barely-too-unresponsive, then the maneuvering IS the fighting. 8) Harpoons, phase beams etc. are just the icing on the "F=ma" cake.

I'm guessing collisions aren't going to be too much of a problem unless you're really aiming to fly right at your enemy. What I think would happen instead would be a lot of ships zooming past each other, then taking the entire map to turn around and try to hit each other again for a few seconds.

I already hate maneuvering Onslaughts, so I can't imagine how little fun this would be for me writ large.

I did double weapon range to compensate for that

so far I haven't had any collision problems (which is not !!FUN!! enough) and I'm trying to remedy that

So, what is it you're going for, here?

That 'why won't you turn faster, ship?!' feel that you get after jumping into a battleship in EvE Online after flying a cruiser for ages?

I kinda like that idea, but, most cruisers and all the battleships feel very ponderous already. I love using battleships, but just getting into range of another ship is a challenge of it's own. Even worse when it's a ship implemented by a mod, and despite being 1.5x your size, still manages to move faster and just trolololos on the tip of weapons range.

its actually easier to get weps in range with my mod...

2x wep range speaks for itself

decel is also decreased big time so AI won't just move back as u approach

Except you can't see twice as far, and missiles are probably made more useless as a result of PD weapons having longer time to shoot at them. And it'll still take an hour to get in range of anything.

If the AI can't move back as you get closer, I'm totally gonna take an Onslaught and just ram everything

you won't need to.... all weapons save for long range supports are still well within sight range. Missiles are not useless cuz I halved all damage...

sounds strange, I know, it's my personal mod...

this idea reminds of Warhammer 40k ship battles, so of course I love this idea, though the science can be damned :)
