Does anyone know what the `Janus Device Analysis` research does? It says something about allowing further research of the gate structure - Is this just an intermediate tech or is there something we can do with that unlock?

Anyone know the answer to this?

Last I checked it does nothing itself other than allow research towards the bifrost gate structure which allows instant travel between colonies on a 30 day cool down instead of needing fuel. It also provides a nice accessibility bonus for the colony. It’s a very late game research ‘reward’ you can access after obtaining the hyper dimensional processor. Find the veil of knowledge and brace for [SUPER REDACTED]

I do not know how, but I'm running vaults of knowledge 2.1.8.. I know it's not listed as such but is it save compatible with 2.2.6 if I didn't yet establish a single colony?

No. You will have to start a new game if you come from before 2.2.

hi, made a new account here on the forums to report this and made a post about it on another mod thread a while ago, but I've run into a pretty serious issue. after I built up a massive colony, I've got a really nice collection of the various factions capital ships I've captured or salvaged over time and have everything I own in one massive storage on my strongest and most well defended planet, and of course, they are all armed to the teeth and are frequently take into and out of storage with the same loadout of the best weapons I have anywhere including the [REDACTED] along with the [SUPER REDACTED] cache you find at alpha site. this all changed when I finally put in an order for my orbital works industry through the custom screen for special projects, the one that says "access shipyard" to build myself an astral-class supercarrier. I only realized after it had been done and the ship delivered to my local storage, but I was horrified when I realized after saving the game and coming back from a long exploration mission that all my ships in storage had all of their mounted weapons completely removed, not in storage, on the ship, in my cargo, anywhere to be found. all my ships were stripped clean of the best weapons in the game I had found up until this point and I realized belatedly it happened right after I had put in the order to build my new astral class. I'm assuming it had something to do with the game giving the ship a loadout once it was completed and put in storage.

That is old ver bug , in new version clearing all ships in storage does not occur

Where do I find hyperdimensional processor? I've had 2 saves now and I explored a great part of the sector in both of them. Are they so rare that I just cannot find it or is there another way to acquire such thing? Still great mod but watch out since on the AOTD web if you click on download all it will download an older version of Vaults of Knowledge, perhaps it got fixed by now tho but double check it anyway since swapping between versions is WACKY
Visit bar on planets (dosnt matter what planet) once time you find quest from old Hegemony person (yellow line). He told you about Veil of Knowledge, visit this place, defeat guardians (so much serious) and take device.

That is old ver bug , in new version clearing all ships in storage does not occur

are you sure this is an old bug? I downloaded this version very recently using the "download all" link in the ATD website.

just wanted to say how much i love this mod! its really interesting to play with and has a really solidly designed feel to it, it adds a bunch of fun mechanics that i love playing with, you should be proud of what youve accomplished here!

How to get the special ship project blueprints from the UAF? I've read about raiding some of their planets but I cannot find the article/part which talked about where exactly in the AoTD page

Did the Soil Nanite fix in VoK 2.2.6 also solve Artisanal Farming not-using UAF Rice Cooker, or is that a seperate bug with a different root cause?

AotD Vaults of Knowledge causes a CTD with the latest Diable Avionics, Joestar edition (version 2.9.2a).
The crash for me involves the Valiant's ship system. You can repo the crash by starting up any SIM fight, even from the menu missions refit screen, and fight the SIM Maelstrom. As soon as the fighters deploy, the game crashes. Removing AotD VoK prevents the crash.

I'm just starting to branch out from the vanilla game.  so pardon my ignorance. 

Does this make the game feel more Master of Orion 2 like?  say where factions will actively spread out and need to devote to research?  Maybe a starting system each? 

Seems to me in the Vanilla game your faction can quickly become OP farming alpha cores and colonizing like everything.  Wile in Nexerelin seems the Hegemony will just eventually capture everything but the pirates and indies.
