I know there are tons of answers for this question but I am new to modding and don't understand what I did wrong I got them to work the first time no problem but now they are not working after I updated starsector and I have been trying to fix it for two days help please

which mods aren't showing up? If it's just one it's probably a mod_info.json problem.

Where exactly are they not showing up? In the launcher? In game? Are your mods up to date?

It's in the launcher and I have seen the jason thingy before but I don't understand what to do with it

Did you properly unpack the mods? IE You used the "unpack here" command?

I don't know I downloaded the mods moved them into the mod folder after extracting them that's about all I did

Each mod's folder should look like the attached image. "Starsector/mods/ModName/mod_info.json". There should not be any ".zip" or "mods/ModName/ModName" going on.
