Option to bypass launcher
« on: September 22, 2022, 07:37:21 AM »

think i may have an idea about why amd gfx card users have issues with this game. when i add the app to my games list, my gfx card software will recognize the launcher, but soon as you start the game adrenaline no longer 'sees' the game. this means my gfx card manager cant manage the gfx card, leading to stutters and terrible performance. is there any simple way to bypass the launcher? and if not, can you consider making one available in an update? i have a strong hunch this would resolve many issues people with amd cards have with the game

Have you tried adding the game's JRE to your games list? I recall having problems like that with Minecraft on Windows/Nvidia.

Far as i can tell, radeon will only allow me to add .exe .url or .lnk, with no option for 'any' as exists in most every such 'open app' window.

The file you want to add is jre/bin/java.exe

The launcher is not a separate executable, btw, though the game has to create an OpenGL window twice, which might be what's throwing the management software. There's a legacyLauncher option in data/config/settings.json - if you set that to true, the game will use an older launcher that does not use OpenGL, so that may make a difference.

I get a performance increase with the legacy launcher. my video card detects the game with i link it to the java.exe, but it didnt seem to help the game run smoother. legacy, however, does.
