After embracing the SPEED of safety overrides hammerheads and luddic path brawlers, I can no longer fly non-SO ships without feeling like I'm travelling in slow motion. I tried forcing myself to not use SO and slapped on Unstable Injector + ITU as a feeble replacement but it still feels unsatisfying.
The most annoying thing is trying to hunt down enemy frigates, (especially wolves) because without SO, I'm not fast enough to chase after them and they back away forever. Then when you turn around to try and destroy another target, they drift in and pepper you with a few shots, so you turn around to blast them, but the second they're high on flux they phase skimmer backwards to safety and the cycle repeats. I acknowledge this is actually very realistic AI in that enemies have a sense of self preservation and aren't blindly charging in, however it's also extremely annoying for the player to deal with.
I suppose the problem is likely exacerbated because I usually only send in my flagship for the majority of early-mid game combat so I don't have allied ships to distract the enemy fleet with.
tl;dr am I doomed to only fly overridden ships?
