Kanta's Den decivilized?
« on: April 25, 2022, 08:51:40 AM »

Kanta's Den randomly decivilized in an extremely short time and I didn't even notice.
Any way to bring it back? It's not colonize-able (since it's a station).
Solution via modding also accepted (if it can be applied to an existing playthrough).

I'm not sure if it's save-compatible (given how big it is it probably isn't) but Boggled's Terraforming and Station Construction allows you to colonize abandoned stations.

If it was after you did that part of the Institute quest, it wasn't random, fyi.  Just so if you see it again in antoher play through you know to expect it.

Wait, so it's scripted/guaranteed to happen? This is completely new to me.

I am 99.99% sure there is no scripted deciv event for Kanta's Den, or any market for that matter.

Sounds like someone raided Kanta's Den into negative stability, and the only reason it didn't decivilize earlier was story protection. As soon as you cleared that part of the story the protection is lifted, and the market decivilizes because it has -100 stability.

Then how aren't all the pirate ports decivilized within a couple cycles of play?

Personally, I've never felt the need to raid the pirate ports into the negatives, nevermind the continuous raiding needed to keep them there. Plenty of dosh available before you reach that point.

If they're all low on stability and you've a desperate need for cash, hitting large (major-faction) trade convoys in hyperspace is also very profitable, and doesn't exactly cost you much in the way of standing, either (if you keep your transponder off). I've gotten more than $1M wrecking a single supplies+heavy weapons convoy before, using nothing but a few destroyers and frigates.
