Making the elite effect of the sensors skill remove the Neutrino Detectors false positives seems like a no brainer to me.

Thoughts?

It should have no false readings at no additional charge.

Alex doesn't just want to add elite effects to non-piloted ship skills.

Sensor is already a weak skill, the noise removal should come with it to make it more valuable.

I waste too much time confirming if a signal is fake or not.  The spikes are subtle, and the fleet needs to move too much to see if that little spike moves or not.

The false readings are bad enough that I actually don't try to use it anymore... I think I spend nearly as much time triangulating as I would just doing a sensor ping grid, and its range seems to be short enough that it doesn't find very much anyways. Maybe I'm wrong about that as I hardly ever bother trying to use it.

For one of the reward for beating [STUFF] in Seeker I made an "Enhanced Neutrino Detector" that weeds out the false readings over time, while increasing its range and accuracy (narrower spikes, less background noise).

Also I think it looks way cooler

I wouldn't mind if something like this was the default, or the "elite" version.

There were two times Neutrino was useful:

* Finding the rare pirate base that the usual tricks for finding stuff did not work.
* Finding the Alpha Site cache for the first time.

If the Alpha Site cache location was randomized (direction and distance from the planet), Neutrino Detector would be more useful for finding the cache, not just for Omega weapons, but also the alpha cores from the Remnant guards.  (I saved-scummed that fight until an Alpha core dropped.)

Elite: Neutrino directions are remembered on the map, and automatically greyed if the source is known, once multiple neutrino rays cross the same position a unknown map marker is added.

that would give it a real feeling of navigation....

i never use neutrino detector because of the false positives.
