Odyssey ship avoidence AI
« on: April 29, 2012, 10:31:32 AM »

for whatever reason my Odyssey keeps ramming both me, enemy ships, and wrecks. I suspect its because of the 3 large weapon arcs that intersect at a strange angle at the front of the ship, causing it to try to get that angle and therefore advance continuously at the same time.

If you're in anything smaller than a capital ship, that's not a bug. Larger ships ignore smaller ones - it's the smaller ship's job to get out of the way, since they're much more capable of it. As far as wrecks and asteroids, it'll avoid them if they're big enough, and/or raise shields if the potential collision damage is high enough to warrant it.

Maybe it should also make an effort to not smash into cruisers then? destroyers and frigates i can understand, but my cruiser is actually slower than my Odyssey so its a bit odd. I also had it ram into a wreck then orbit around it with its nose constantly smashing into the thing.
