What do you hope to see in 1.0?
« on: October 08, 2021, 02:36:42 AM »

I personally hope there will be more story quests.
PS: I don't know if this should be in the suggestions thread or general discussion.

since i'm already dooming humanity with my flagrant use of alpha-ai-cores i want to join my overlord omega and subjugate the entire human race!

but yeah more story content and some endgame threats sounds good..

also maybe fix the lag&saving issues when fighting very large fleets in heavily modded games.

Giving orders to your faction fleets, sending them on raid missions.

A win condition.  You do X (like destroy the Sa-Matra or kill Morgoth), and you unequivocally win the game.    No more of this endless game with no win condition.

A way to permanently destroy zombie factions (i.e., pirates and Pathers).  Wipe them out like player can wipe out Hegemony to stop inspections.

Either hard limits on alpha core admins (if cores will remain as they are) or fully support full sector conquest.  Right now, the only thing stopping core use is making them annoying to use (namely Pather cells since inspections can be stopped by wiping big H off the map).

Alpha core admins that are dangerous because the alpha cores are (sealed) demons that will do bad things, not being the human factions want to be a thorn in the side.  Currently, alpha cores behave more like jealous girlfriends that will do anything to please the main character in a stock harem anime/manga.  The main reason I do not want to bother with cores (or items like hypershunt tap) is because I do not want to play whack-a-mole zombie Pather babysitting game.  Cells from 0.9a was a horrific experience.

Independents that work like independents and not a monolith that is too stupid to stay out of major conflicts.

Remnants that act more like demons than peaceful space wood elves that do nothing aside from waiting for the player to rob, pillage, and burn their hidden (red system).

More Omegas.  Be able to farm their tech if they are jokes like Rift Cascade Emitter.  They are like old Blackrock faction - superior hulls, mediocre weapons (barring the one or two gems like cryoblaster).  Would like to see what their capital would be like.

More unique hero ships ala Ziggurat.  Would like to see at least one more capital that is clearly a super-capital, and not a phase ship.  Maybe a cruiser that is on par with Paragon (like the Paladin from old Knights Templar mod).  Stuff that makes the player says, I want this special one-of-a-kind ship as my flagship!  Currently, I feel pushed to phase skills because of the phase Vindicator, er... Xenorphica.

Another Remnant capital that is not as overpowered as Radiant.  Something in between Brilliant and Radiant.

No plot armor for quest planets.  If player wants to sat bomb them off the map, let him!  (Or flat out tell him he cannot, break fourth wall if needed, not this nuke immunity.)

Like said, win condition. Lategame threats, like, real ones that threatens existence of core world or personally player's colonies.
More interesting stories, like in galatia academy. Official inclusion of nexerelin maybe, or is this something too hard to settle, to agree with terms idk. Inclusion of many more vanilla-friendly mods, i've seen some devs doing such things.

Personally I still think some form of time limit via the aging of your commander or the forward motion of events in the sector would lend an important motivator.  The pressure of time forces choices that we sometimes might not make and can lead us down unexpected paths toward our goal.  Anyone who's ever played a game like Sid Meier's Pirates understands exactly what I'm talking about.  It's probably a bit too much to ask at this point in development but a man can dream...

A crew morale meter.  The fact that your crew only leaves at the next port after lack of pay and never mutinies is practically criminal.  Plus, would be cool to be forced to fight some of your own perfectly designed fleet...

In fact, game prolly just needs a dedicated crew screen, for both officers and regular crew (regardless of whether NCOs command non-officered ships and sometimes maybe get promoted).

Quality of life changes. Would be nice if the intel map and the MAP were combined, would make it easier to find things/navigate. A way to leave notes on the map would be good too.

More interesting map generation, along with more stuff to find. I like exploration, but space can feel really empty at times. And before someone says "but space IS empty,"
First off, this is a sci-fi game >.> Also, even if you just go by what exists in IRL there will always be that weird planet with a atmosphere that smells like strawberries, or a comet that's green for some reason or something like that.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... More weird mysterious stuff please. IMO that would be better than scripted quests because it lets the player make their own story.

a set of story quests per faction that can be joined plus multiple storylines that can be started dependent of how the players runs their own faction

like a storyline that starts if the player attempts peaceful co-existance with the AI cores

Storylines that start if the player attempts to climb the ladder in a faction

a lovecraftian horror quest where the player goes on a huge tear and starts genociding planets by the score to conquer them and put them under the control of some sort of AI core hivemind

or even a set of quests where if the players stays away from joining a faction but still goes around kicking ass and taking names then eventually a member of a faction would take interrest in them, maybe to use them to carry out nefarious deeds or just recruit them....

and each major questline completed would give us access to a sort of "supership" obtained as a "post-game" reward and themed around the questline

something utterly and completely busted that could wipe out entire factions by itself, why not ? getting to it was the hard part, now all thats left to it is kick back and enjoy the fruits of one's toil

maybe add in a "freeplay" mode where one can spawn into the open world with whatver they want and then just goes around messing about...

1. A new sort of "mini game" for invading / raiding planets or station. Aka, fights with units to manage.
Basically almost everything is already done : We got the marines, their heavy armaments, some ships giving bonuses... As for the combats, something "relatively simple" could work and still be fun. Three sort of units : marines, mechas, and static items like defense towers, bunkers, etc.
It would create a new depth for the game, and give a more intense feeling about conquering/raiding/protecting a planet. And YEAH, I know, actually, Nerexelin is the way to conquer. But back on some old posts from Alex, he was already planing to add the conquest option. So... Hope is allowed?

2. Actually, Remnants are hidden in some systems, randomly generated, with or without great stuff to salvage where they are. Why not giving some whole territory still "in control" of the Remnants, like in the really edges of the galaxy? They would do their raids from there, giving some time to prepare to receive them, and kicking them out of the borders of the galaxy would give a feeling of achievment. Especially because most of the class 4 and class 5 planets are hidden in those areas.

3. The prices are terribly frustrating. When starting a game, almost everyone is in the need, so they get really high, and playing as a merchand is a really efficient way to get easy money (and to get attacked by pirates :D). But as soon as most of the old systems have grown enough, nobody except the pirates and pathers are "in the need". Buying the excess and selling them where they haven't too much of the items feels pretty "meh". There should be more events, more ways to "destroy commodities". Accidents, like natural disasters, I dunno. But really, it would give a huge kick for the "I don't wanna war, I'm a trader" way of playing.

3. more ways to "destroy commodities"

Can't you just target the traders going to and fro a certain system ? that'll starve them out pretty quick though you'd have to deal with the escorts, bring enough storage to steal the leftovers and do all that while remaining anonymous wich is impossible as far as I know since everyone in the sector magically knows about everything you do

Yeah, well, if you want to become enemy with the faction you want to trade with, you certainly can... :D
