If you ever encountered a hyperspace storm that didn't send you somewhere to the neighboring galaxy, then I can only envy you....

Use Emergency Maneuver to keep control, fly though as many storms as you can while it lasts, get only one ,maybe two, civilian ships slightly damaged and repaired for cheap... Congrats, you crossed about a third of the sector radius, do it twice and you are well within the fringes after 5 days flat.

A hyperspace storm will knock you a little off course.

I am rarely knocked off course by storms and I don't even try to hit them correctly.

This right here is how it's done!  That said, storms can be crippling for hangar queens Radiant and Ziggurat.  Radiant for low max CR and Ziggurat for its huge CR appetite after one fight.

People could say that storms were the prototype of slipstreams, but that is probably a lie because storms in early releases (before the random fringe worlds were added) were much worse by paralyzing the fleet and sucking out CR and supplies out of the whole fleet like a black hole.  (And back then, switching from Sustained to Emergency Burn paralyzed the fleet for several seconds too, so it was nearly useless for escaping storms too!)

With today's storms, unless you have low supplies or need to shield a hangar queen for an imminent fight, there is no reason not to plunge into a storm and E-burn your way to where you want to go at burn 30.

No they won't. That is if you use Emergency Maneuver as instructed. And you will also be immune to the speed debuff of Deep Hyperspace so you can go way above burn 20 and save some fuel too..

you always have to use the biggest gun possible in a slot. Putting med guns in large slot is bad and you should feel bad. And small guns in bigger slots, small pp energy there.

this is not simply giving you more options its an obligation!

When you use mods, there can be problems. The base game itself is fairly stable, it tanks if you play for too long, but it's fine otherwise.
