I'll start with a common one: Level-scaling or the belief that other fleets' FP increases with player level.

Oh boy this is a fun one.
- 4 Tach lance Paragon being the strongest thing in the game
- Autofit being useful
- Filling every weapon slot on a ship is necessary (granted most people figure this out eventually)

Biggest misconception of all:
Hyperspace storms are a navigation hindrance (instead of a godly speed boost allowing you to cross the sector in a jiffy).

The enemy AI is somehow better than friendly AI.

Missiles suck because they’re limited.

Updates, patch notes, blog posts, etc. will come faster if you continue to ask when they’ll be released.  :P

Your ships will follow orders, and close in on an enemy, when they are faster, instead of running around uselessly and dying.....

The bigger the ship, the better.

Colonies are for the late game only

You need a strong force to explore the sector

Marines are not worth salary and cargo space

Conquest best ship in the game

Neutrino detector is totally useless

The more expensive and fragile the ship the more suicidal the officer in it will be.

"Sniper" and "shotgun" both start with S and thus are the same thing to officers.

The unwatched frigate will fly AWAY from the big well-armed battleship when ganged upon.

Any engines are acceptable targets of reaper torpedos... even allies.

90% flux is fine. Everything is fine.

If you press 'w', your ship will show larger flames out of the back and that means you are going faster.  I thought this for an embarrassing number of hours until I realized that when you are at max speed, the large flames are just for show.
