A ruler for the map.

A ruler similar to google map's would be fairly useful (image attached for visual exemple);

Select point 1, select point 2, and the ruler will draw both a line with the exact LY distance and a circle that has the radius of the line.

This would massively help scouting systems with Hypershunt/Cyrosleeper in mind, since they only work within 10 LY, which can be hard to visualize.
It would also help visualizing distance without being at one of the 2 points, which can be hard to do.

A simple ruler tool to check distance between any two points would be very useful.

A tool to create a circle with a radius of x light years at any point of the map would be really nice too, currently the only way of getting a visual representation is to fly to the system with the megastructure and eject a part of your fuel reserves.

Technically, what you're displaying is a compass.  Just not a magnetic compass.  The kind you played with in 6th grade math, and maybe also high school geometry (or whatever other high school class encompasses geometry, education standards vary).  Which is how they used to measure distance on charts basically anytime more than a 100 years ago.  The ruler part is only the radius being measured... but game's code should be able to handle this, since some version of this is basically already being added for mission screens.

Love the idea. Also some advanced mapping screen where you canplan a route from star to star and see if yiz have enough fuel for that exact route?

Slipstreams will kinda render measuring distance for fuel requirements irrelevant now... and if you're in the same system as the coronal hypershunt or the cryosleeper, you can still plot a route to another system while using map and basically get distance, just hard to figure out exactly which systems are in the exact 10 ly radius.  But yeah, please add anyway, whatever you call it, when ability to deploy fleets from colony is added.

this already (mostly) exists in the game!

turn starscape off and turn fuel range on, you get a ruler with a 1ly grid, like so (in a spoiler so it doesn't clog stuff up)

Would be nice, but the fuel range filter for the map handles what I need most of the time, it would help with some colony related stuff though.

I would appreciate this tool, and even a waypoint calculator.

I seldom do exploration of several systems in one go. Being able to roughly see how much fuel costs going to system A and then Turn to system B and C and then fly home would be much appreciated.
