My mod updater is saying I am using version 6.x and the newest version (that I cannot find) is 7.x (I used x as I cannot recall the exact version numbers).
Where is the new newest version or is the version I am using not labeled correctly/updated joson?

Yuithemodder mentioned in the changelog the Mod Updater will show a wrong number for now. They are cooking up a new update but it's not ready yet. I admit it is taunting ... but I will be patient.

Whenever I try to install the newest version from the link, I get an older version

As mentioned in the changelog you have the newest version. There is a Beta in the oven which is what you are seeing but it's not released yet.

Is there a limit to the size of the highfleet in the beta? I've defeated it once, but a large part of the challenge ends up just being able to have enough CR to last multiple engagements that can in total take over half an hour.
