Stardust Merchant Coalition v.1.1.0

When the collapse cut the Persean Sector off from the rest of the Domain of Man several minor corporations united though diplomacy or by force under the banner of the Stardust Merchant Coalition.  Together they established themselves as a rising power as the sector descended into anarchy only to suddenly leave the sector a half a century after their rise to power.  Some believe they were defeated by the Hemogeny and exiled from the sector while others believe they fled the sinking ship that is this sector.  Whatever the reason, the remnants of the Coalition remain as a local polity on the other edges of Core Space.  Even in their current state, their presence can still be felt across the sector as their ships and weapons can be found in the hands of friends and foe alike.

Faction: Stardust Merchant Coalition7
  • New Star System Amber located south of the core worlds.
  • The Coalition know most of the SMC related ships, weapons, and fighters blueprints.  The remainder are found in rare bps.
  • Special Thanks to the people who made tutorials and guides for custom faction / star system mods.

Weapon: Volatile Rifle / Cannon / Driver
  • A Small / Medium / Large Ballistic Weapon that fires a large bolt of energy.  Ballistic Weapon that concentrates fuel before firing it out as a bolt of unstable energy.
  • Op Efficient, but charge up sequence and low velocity makes it difficult to use effectively.

Weapon: Sledgehammer Launcher / Heavy Sledgehammer Launcher / Sledgehammer Demolisher
  • Small / Medium / Large Missile Weapons.  Fires a volley of medium range guided missiles to deal explosive damage to the target.
  • Individually these missiles are easy to intercept, but the combination of number of missiles and high ammunition count allows for sustained assault.

Weapon: Strobe Blaster / Strobe Cyclone
  • Medium / Large Energy Weapon that fires low yield energy bolts at high rates.

Fighter: Diapir Mobile Bomber
  • Mecha Bomber that carries 4 Sledgehammers

  • Changed damage per flux ratio to 1.1(was 1.2)
  • Experimental Blaze Cannon damage type changed to high_explosive, range reduced to 900.

  • Reduced missile hp to 85

Ion Projector

  • Stats changed to reflect Light Cruiser class.

Lithosphere
  • Changed design to be a slow long range capital ship that gradually advances unleashing missile and stardust cannon fire as it approaches.
  • 4 Large Ballistic Turrets changed to 4 Large Missile Turrets.
  • 2 Large Energy Turrets changed to 2 Large Ballistic Turrets.
  • Changed stats to be more in line with high end capital ships.]

  • Destroyer sized civilian ship.  Functions as a crew carrier, but has extra armor and dorsal mounted medium Ballistic turret to protect itself.  Can also be used in ground support operations.

Weapon: Mulcher PD Rifle / Heavy Mulcher PD Rifle
  • Small / Medium Ballistic point defense weapons.  Alternate versions of the Vulcan and Flak cannons, trades rate of fire or more damage per shot and longer range.

Themes
Light Class Ships: Outrun what you cannot Outfight
Contemporary ships outmass SMC ships of similar class, but SMC ships are marginally faster and have better weapon coverage and loadout versatility.  Take care to avoid exposing the engines as their rear coverage is lacking.
Gun Duels: Slow and Steady Wins the Race.
SMC Weapons are focused on dealing consistent damage over long periods of time.  Missile weapons have above average ammunition capacity and rate of fire at a cost of less immediate damage.
Strike Craft: Hit hard, hit fast, hit often.
SMC Fighters and Bombers have greater operation range and lower refit times compared to their contemporaries.  Their damage potential it not as great in exchange.
Civilian Vessels: Only Does Everything
SMC Civilian ships are designed to carry fuel, cargo and be capable of defending themselves.  While pricier and less efficient than than other more specialized civilian vessels, their ability to defend themselves makes disengaging less hazardous for trade oriented captains.

Ships and Fighters
The tonnage of the SMC Navy is less than that of a peer opponent.  However, what they lack in size and toughness, they make up in speed and weapon versatility.  Many of their ships utilize a variety of variable weapon types and greater weapon coverage.  Despite their speed and coverage, great care must be taken to avoid being flanked as their rear protection leaves much to desired.

Civilian Ships

Prosperity Mining Barge: Capital scale cargo and fuel carrier with quite proficient self defense ability.

Fortune Bulk Freighter: Cruiser scale cargo and fuel carrier with built in armed escorts.

Pastor Light Ferry: Support ship that carries a modest amount of extra crew.  Its extra armored plating allows it to support ground operations.

Wrangler Ramming Tug: Support ship that assists in Drive Bubble stabilization.

Tuff Assault Frigate: Built tough escort found in all SMC Fleets.

Destroyers

Cinder Light Destroyer: Light destroyer and epitome of the phrase 'out run what you cannot out fight."

Obsidian Missile Destroyer: Light destroyer that is focused on fire support.

Scoria Escort Carrier: A relatively cheap and affordable destroyer class Carrier.

Tephra Artillery Destroyer: Fire support platform built around a large ballistic hardpoint.  An experimental version carries an Experimental Blaze Cannon as its main weapon instead.

Shale Phase Destroyer: Phase Destroyers suitable for wolf pack strikes.

Cruisers

Mafic Light Cruiser: Backbone of the SMC Navy capable of holding the line without being out maneuvered.

Basalt Light Carrier: Carrier designed to provide support while being able to evade hostile cruisers.

Slate Phase Cruiser: Phase Cruiser with a built in emp system.

Pyroclast Siege Monitor: Light Cruiser ship built around the Stardust Cannon.

Capital Ships

Caldera Tactical Cruiser: Light capital ship built around 3 large weapon mounts.  Aegisteel Plating system allows it to weather attacks that would otherwise cripple it.

Strato Assault Carrier: A light capital ship that combines cruiser level firepower with cruiser level hanger space.

Schist Phase Battlecruiser: Phase capital ship that focuses on broadside engagements.

Lithosphere Grand Battleship: The Pride of the Stardust Merchant Coalition Navy.

Weapons and Fighters
The Arsenal of the Coalition focuses on steady pressure over burst damage.  Ballistic weapons fire a steady stream of kinetic or explosive shells with reasonable accuracy.  Missile weapons deal are mediocre damage, but store large quantities of ammo for prolonged use.  Energy weapons trade damage potential in favor of greater flux efficiency, pressure or emp damage.  SMC Strike Craft though unshielded, are purpose built for rapid fabrication, refit and operate at far greater ranges than their contemporaries.

Ballistic

Transition Rifles: Two stage kinetic weapon.  A chemical propellent launches the shell while magnetic coils further propel it.

Claymore: A weapon designed to unleash a steady barrage of explosive shells.

Volatile: Unique Ballistic weapon that fires contained bursts of unstable fuel.

Mulcher: Point defense that trades rate of fire for range and damage per shot.

Energy

Strobe Laser: Fires a rapid stream of laser bolts ideal for point defense. Laser Machinegun that excels at intercepting missiles.

Strobe Blaster: An upscaled Strobe Laser Emitted refined into a reliable weapon system.  Fires an endless torrent of low yield energy bolts.

Ion Projector: A hybrid of ion and blaster weaponry, Ion Projectors deal reasonable amounts of damage while temporarily disabling enemy systems.

Incinerators: A charge beam weapon with good damage and range.

Missile

Jackhammer:Low yield kinetic swarm missiles designed to overwhelm both point defenses and shields.

Warhammer: Moderate yield explosive torpedoes made compact allowing each weapon to fire these torpedoes fast and often.

Sledgehammer: Guided explosive missiles fired in volleys to overwhelm defenses.

Slammer: Long Range explosive missile designed to apply pressure at a distance.

Low Tech Fighters

Landslide Assault Fighter: Low Tech Fighter that carries a claymore for general combat.

Cleft Missile Bomber: Low Tech Bomber that fire a volley of Jackhammers.

Fault Torpedo Bomber: Low Tech Bomber that fires a Warhammer.

Mid Tech Fighters

Lahar Interceptor: Through the weight saving measure of not using ammo, the Lahar will dart across the battle clearing out enemy strike craft at a moment's notice.

Comet Linear Fighter: Mid tech fighter that carries a Light Transition Rifle for shield breaking duties.

Geyser Ion Bomber: Light Bomber that fires a volley of Ion Projector bolts to quickly disable enemy defenses.

Meteorite Shell Bomber: Light Bomber that carries a payload of Grand Magnum Shells for bombing runs.

Thank you.  I am always looking for feedback.

I am currently working on redesigning some of the ships since they were too similar in shape.  After that I am going to look into turning this ship pack into a faction mod.

I am glad you like it.  Although they aren't as fancy as the other mechs, I am glad I was able to somehow kitbash one together.

EDIT: @dEVoRaTriX_LuX: I have fixed the transition rifles and uploaded v0.3.1, they should deal damage now.

just want to let you know that your ownload has the main folder within a folder so i didnt have it activated on my run because it wasnt unpacked properly because of that

My Ship Pack has been updated to 0.95.1a-RC5.  In addition, multiple ships, fighters, and weapons have been added.

It is v1.0.0 because I have put everything I wanted to into this ship pack.  Everything update beyond this would be focused on balance, polish and anything I was inspired/convinced to add.

Thank you.  I designed the Schist with the idea of phasing into and out of combat with sustained broadsides as opposed to burst damage from missile strikes.  I have no idea how useful a Phase Broadside Light Capital Ship will be for you, but if you can get some enjoyment out of it then I will consider the Schist a success.

That isn't a bad idea.  My original plan was to make a ship/weapon pack as a creative outlet and then practice balancing the ships/weapons as Starsector gets more updates.  That said, my scripting skills are pretty bad so making a basic faction let alone one that matches the faction's lore is going to be a challenge.

Currently I am working on Version 1.1 with several stat fixes and a redesign of the Schist Phase Battlecruiser to make it do better in battle.  I am hoping to finish testing it by the end of this Month.

My Ship Pack has been updated to 1.0.1.  This one is mostly tweaks to existing weapons and ships.  Although a new weapon series and a new ship are added.

Pastor Light Ferry
A light ferry that like other SMC civilian ships can defend itself.

Mulcher PD Rifle / Heavy Mulcher PD Rifle
Ballistic Point Defense that also serves as an alternative to the vulcan and flak cannon.  Fires a stronger shot at longer ranges with better accurate with a lower rate of fire.

I have updated my mod to 1.1.0 and updated the Op Post with the Download link.

The Stardust Merchant Coalition is now a faction located in the Amber system located south of the Core Worlds.

Volatile Rifle/Cannon/Driver
Ballistic weapon that fires condensed bursts of unstable fuel.  Powerful, but difficult to use.

Strobe Blaster/Binary Strobe Blaster
Energy weapon that focuses on firing continuous volleys of low yield energy bolts.  Inaccurate, but excellent for applying pressure.

Sledgehammer Launcher / Heavy Sledgehammer Launcher / Sledgehammer Demolisher
Low yield guided missiles used to overwhelm defenses through volume of fire.

Diapir Mobile Bomber
Mech Bomber that carries Sledgehammers for long range fire support.
