Ill-Advised Modifications > Field repairs?
« on: May 15, 2021, 09:15:14 AM »

Does the skill not remove this one d mod? I get that luck is involved when you got tons of junk ships. Has anyone seen it happen?

Yup I'm sure field repairs can't fix it.

It's even structured differently in the save file.

You can restore the Ill-Advised modification D-mod at dockyards as far as I remember, did that on around a dozen Luddic path ships last time I played a modded 0.91 Luddic Path campaign, mostly using the LP Tryrant and the LP Persecutor.

It's a curous kind of Dmod, as it still comes applied to the ships even if you build them using a pristine nanoforge with orbital works. I built my ships with 0 dmods but they still came in with that mod nonetheless and had to spend extra money to restore them.
My best guess is that there's a part of the Field Repairs skill that removes it from the list of Dmods that can be restored.

Must be a recent change, field repairs or restoration used to remove it.

So here is a Luddic Path Lasher:

</wG>
<hM z="38303">
<st>safetyoverrides</st>
<st>ill_advised</st>
<st>glitched_sensors</st>
</hM>
<pM z="38304">
<st>glitched_sensors</st>
</pM>
<sMods z="38305"></sMods>
<suM z="38306"></suM>
<tags z="38307">
<st>ship_recoverable</st>

It has ill_advised and glitched_sensors under hM (hullmods?), while glitched_sensors is the only one under pM. And field repairs will only remove the glitched sensors.

As far as I can tell, Field Repairs never removed it.

Hm, I'm pretty sure I removed IAM from a Colossus Mk2. Maybe it's inconsistent?

It can be removed at a dock with money. When the smod bug in RC9 or so allowed you to choose to remove any and all dmods, it was one of the few not part of the bug. The triple medium energy Sunder has a similar dmod I think.

It should remove it. I get that you can restore it but taking field repairs should prevent needing to do that. It undermines the skill.

Great, I got one more reason not to take the bloody industry tree.

It does somewhat double the cost of LP SO ships, once. The LP Brawler is worth it, often would outdamage my Legion XIV before I sent it back to storage.
