Think about it, there is some backwater colony that is using outlawed tech. You send a force - it gets destroyed, you send a bigger one, it disappears, 2 fleets - same fate! And it stays that way for cycles. Looking from Hegemony perspective, as a major power you cannot just ignore it and to uphold your authority and reputation you are forced to continue but how many ships you need to get destroyed, how many people to die before general population and even your command staff starts seeing these doomed excursions as suicide missions?

I propose to make AI inspections less gamey and abstract inner instability faction suffers from continuous setbacks, and people in command rerouting resources to more efficient war targets with a simple change. Basically if there is a default time to happen for inspections, like say 12 months this is the baseline. After 3 defeated fleets in a row inner turmoil kicks in and next inspection baseline time to happen has a month added, so it becomes 13 months instead. And it keeps adding a month up to a certain cap (2 or 3 cycles?) so long as you keep the defeat streak. If you lose the opposite happens, one month subtracted up to the original baseline hardcap of 12 months of whatever it is in the game currently.

Right now the inspections already become less frequent after each time regardless of their outcome. Or, at least, they should.

The way it works is:

Every couple months (it's randomized) Hegemony collects intel on your faction. You gain suspicion points based on how much AI you are using (with a slightly random multiplier). If your total suspicion exceeds the threshold, inspection happens, and the threshold for the next one is DOUBLED.

That is good to know. Is there a cap for a delay. The fleets keep getting stronger, the last one nearly wiped me. Only alpha AI station and tons of wrecked ships saved me.
