Long time user of ye mod, it would be grand if you made a version that's 4 times as slow up to level 40, currently I just manually edit this in, tbh it's just me, myself and I probably wanting this just for the sake of convenience whenever re-hash my mods

Is it possible to get a version that makes it take 2x or 5x or a custom formula (vanilla * sqrt(level) so level 9 is 3x more, 16 4x, 25 5x, etc) or info on how to edit this ourselves? Playing a heavily modded and longer game and it feels like I hit max level too fast.

So, you can easily edit the rate of level up by looking at <mod folder>\data\scripts\plugins\LevelUpPluginImpl.java and editing the XP_PER_LEVEL array to be whatever you'd like.

Keep in mind that deviating too far above 4,000,000 XP per level will slow your rate of story point gain, and those are a very powerful resource, arguably more powerful than skill points. I wanted to preserve story point gain as much as possible, in comparison to vanillla, and as a result I'm constrained in how fast or slow I can set rate of leveling up.

Yes I actually found that file and edited it without issue. I understand the concern with the story points and was wondering how much of an effect it will have late game, will let you know how it feels to me when it gets there. A major reason I wanted to increase the level curve was because so many of the fleet battles end up giving like 90k xp and with my modpack I am constantly fending off raiders and invasions from multiple factions simultaneously resulting in having too many story points stockpiled for my liking, wanting to decrease how often they occur to make them much more of a strategic resource than something I can obtain with relative ease, and so far in the early game the do accumulate pretty well to still have a decent stockpile of them, we shall see how it goes later though..

Here is what the XP_PER_LEVEL looks like:

The comments were not changed and make a reference to the default values. I would modify these to end in 0's to sate the OCD compulsion, but I dont want to.

I added lv40-fast version to my game at level 8, it bumped me up to level 16 after my xp ticked again, but granted me no story points.  :-[

this is one of the most sought-after mods
in real life, one will never stop learning. So it is so fun to keep the vanilla leveling, but it might even increase the number of Xp to level after some 30 lvl - because it is hard to teach an old dog a new trick.
Also, please consider an idea - an item or building (e.g., hypno studying indoctrination device, from WH40k), that can be found/obtained from some elite wreck or torn from ai.
The device will allow another level for the officers, or other buffs, but with some drawbacks - reckless/berserkers character modifications, with bursts of ramming rage (ship accelerates and rams everything on its path, friend or foe), or damage to the crew (superstitions, cannibalism, violence, high losses).
In the case of the structure, those drawbacks can be negated by installing the AI core.

Anyway, thank you for the mod. It is needed.

Odd question, but how viable would it be for an addon like this to be made for Second-In-Command?

i'm pretty sure this mod already works with SiC. problem is that there's hardly any point to it, since the amount of skills you can get with skill points is cut down so much.

A variant that allows for more skills on the XOs (or more XO capacity) could be a decent idea, if it's viable to implement at all.
