Automated ships combat readiness
« on: April 06, 2021, 11:59:44 AM »

The way combat readiness is calculated for player-owned remnant ships feels wrong. the skill description says my ships would have 64% combat readiness, but I also have +11% from crew training and +15% from officer skill. I'd expect my ship to be at 90%, but for some reason it's at 60%.

I've also complained about this as it's not transparent how you should go about actually owning and managing an automated fleet.

I was surprised that the automated skill AND an alpha core (embedded into a single radiant) is barely enough to raise the CR to 50%

Impossible to also have multiple automated ships as they destroy the CR, so an otherwise fun mechanic is seriously limited, not fun imo.
Because honestly capturing strong autonomous ships is tricky and trying to get a core from a Nexus is also hard, unless you already have a strong fleet.

Cores actually contribute to the Automated skills limit.

The power of cores come not only from the skills given by the core but by the fact that any skill pertaining to officers stacks with it. See: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=20566.0 for a build with smaller ships.

It's weird phrasing but the skill gives up to +100% readiness, automated ships get -100% from their hullmod. These are additive, if you get +64% from the skill that's 70 base - 100 automated + 64 skill +11 crew + 15 officer = 60 total.

trying to get a core from a Nexus is also hard, unless you already have a strong fleet.

Alpha cores drop from regular battles with remnants too, even the derelict type. I got two alpha cores from destroying the defenders of a domain mothership.
