Title says it all. When selecting the 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160, on the loading screen and main menu the mouse is missing. This happens with fullscreen on or off, at 100% scaling and no AA.

However when I select any resolution 2560x1600 or below the mouse is seen on the loading screen and main menu. I'm playing on an LG CX 48", with a 2080ti with 465.21 driver version, and on windows 10.

Sorry about the trouble!

Could you try setting "useDefaultMouseCursor" to true in data/config/settings.json? You'd lose the fancy cursor but might at least get it to show up in those display modes.

I don't think this is something I can otherwise address on my end, unfortunately; the game is not doing anything special that'd make it disappear in those modes.

Its cool!

Setting "useDefaultMouseCursor" to true did not help. The mouse is still missing from the loading and title screen. But again, when I am not playing in 4096 x 2160, or 3840 x 2160 the mouse is working fine as the default windows mouse.

Thank you for giving it a try. Hmm. Just not sure what else I can suggest. Perhaps running the game in various compatibility modes/as administrator?

Do you have any video capture software running, or MSI Afterburner, or anything similar? Maybe it's something intentionally hiding the mouse cursor under certain conditions.

Running as administrator: Negative

Running in Windows 8 compatibility: Negative

Running in Windows XP compatibility: Negative

Closed Asus AI Suite, Steam, anything that might have an overlay: Negative

Alt + Tabbing in and out a bunch of times: Negative

I do have Geforce experience running, and it does prompt me to run an overlay when I launch the game, but I ignore it. The capture software is not running. I'd kill it in task manager if I knew what process it was.

After updating my graphics drivers to 461.92 and rebooting the mouse is now seen at the loading screen and main menu, however when I set "useDefaultMouseCursor" to false, it disappears again. Don't know if this helps in determining if its a user/hardware/nvidia/starsector issue.

If I alt tab out and back into the game, the cursor disappears even with "useDefaultMouseCursor" true.

EDIT: buuut, If I hit Alt+Z to view the geforce overlay, and Alt+Z again it reappears.

Ahh - are you able to turn off geforce experience? It's entirely possible it could be causing the issue. A little while back, someone reported it causing significant performance issues for the game, too.

Uninstalled Geforce experience, and I can get the normal game mouse to appear with "useDefaultMouseCursor" set to false. However it appears it is squished in height about 50%. (It may also be smaller in general, but it would be in 4k right? With UI scaling set to 100%?)

Strange about it being squished... it should be the same size in 4k, regardless of UI scaling. I mean, it'll be bigger if you run in fullscreen at a smaller resolution. Perhaps a better way to put it is the cursor should always be the same number pixels.

Yeah, the cursor appearing smaller is expected. But it being squished I'm assuming isn't. I've tried to get a screen shot, but the cursor disappears when using the snipping tool.

Running in to the same problem.  Playing at 4k the cursor is invisible about 3 out of 4 times the game loads.  This can occur on the title screen or during the game.  When the cursor does show up, it has a squashed appearance, like it is at 50% y, 100 % x.  I've experienced this issue on 0.95 RC9 and RC12.

My current workaround: Alt-tabbing out of the game and back in can make the cursor disappear or reappear, but can take several tries.
