So last night I saved a game of starsector. The next day the save copy was gone and only my last save copy showed. I tried fixing it through the internet but nothing I fine works. I really want my save back since I played like 5 hours straight and don't want all the progress gone. The file of the save is still there but it's not appearing in the load section.

Hmm - you could try moving descriptor.xml from a save that works to this save's folder. That should make it show up (looking like the other save you moved the file from), but whether it'll load or not depends on what went wrong. Make sure to make a backup copy of the save folder before you mess with it, just in case!

Tried that but still only showed my other save file

Opening the descriptor.xml shows it's corrupted (filled with null data).

There's a descriptor.bak in the same folder. I deleted descriptor.xml, renamed descriptor.bak to descriptor.xml, and the save works.
(Unhide file extensions in Windows Explorer when doing this)

The bad thing is I started a new game so now I have no clue what to do since I basically caught up to the deleted save lmao.
