Hi - sorry about the trouble!

First thing would be to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Second would be trying a reboot.

(Oh, also: if you have MSI Afterburner running, or anything similar, or any video-capture related software, I'd suggest turning that off. MSI Afterburner (and a similar ROG Tweaks app) are both known to cause issues of this sort.)

If that doesn't help, you can try running the game in administrator mode, and in compatibility mode for windows 95.

If *that* doesn't help, open up data/config/settings.json and change:
"legacyLauncher":false,
To:
"legacyLauncher":true,

That should at least get it further along and might resolve it entirely.

Hmm - could you clarify what you tried? Also, "Cause: Could not create context" appears to be present in the initial log as well.

(Edit: if you try setting legacyLauncher to true, it seems very unlikely you'd get this error when trying to start the game - you should either get a very different error, or - more likely - see the launcher come up.)

I tried both admin and compatibility, then got the legacy launcher to come up, inserted my key, then it became a small config window that allowed me to change resolution and enable sound/fullscreen, after that the error message was updated, then I tried run with admin, compatibility and both, but still nothing.

Have you tired rebooting? If not, I strongly recommend it.

If that doesn't help, it's likely an issue with either the graphics drivers, or interference from other software you might have running. In that case I'd make sure that the graphics drivers are up-to-date, and that as little else as possible is running.

But, again, definitely try rebooting first.

Still nothing, rebooted, all the drives are up to date, there is no aplicaton that could interfere, my hardware isn't the best, but I can play even a poorly optimized game like Stellaris without issues, most of the time.

Beyond that, the only thing that comes to mind is that there just aren't new-enough working drivers for what I'm assuming (based on the max resolution) a laptop. Checking for drivers directly from the video card maker may be worth a shot, too...

Guess what? tried on my old and limited PC and it just worked without a single error, but not my notebook, so I guess this is a until next time to Starsector.
