Do bounties scale with distance?
« on: September 14, 2019, 08:46:43 AM »

It always bothered me the sheer amount of supplies and fueld I would spend to get to bounties, rarely profitable. But now that I'm playing with Grand Sector mod, it seems worse. 40k bounties at the very edge of the sector.

But trade missions definitely factor distance in the reward!

No. You can set up a ring of outposts 15 lightyears from the core, and leave your warships there, and equip them when there are bounty targets nearby.

40k bounties consist of 6 d-modded frigates at the most. I don't know how big the mod is, but surely you can do it profitably with only a few ships?

It would be nice if there were more small bounties nearer to the core worlds especially in the early game. I didn't really do any personal or station bounties until I started exploring more in the mid-game.

The amount of bounty in relation to difficulty also seem a bit off: A fleet with couple cruiser and smaller ships might net you 150k while a fleet with 5 capitals might be no more than 200k. System bounties tend to get you even more with much less investment and difficulty. Personal and station bounties also provide pretty small reputation boosts compared to system bounties that you can do way more in short amount of time.

The bounty does not only depending on what ships there are, but also the fleet's commander's ECM and combat skills etc.

well im not sure how that mod changes these. generally in vanilla at least better equipped ships are required to exist out on the periphery. so i have only had 200k or more in the outer areas while i still get 20-50k in the intereior areas. it could be the generation seed you have that changed this.

I'm playing without mods and I generally didn't see any easy bounties near core before I was pretty far in the game. I have also seen 300k bounties right next to the core and 50k bounties about as far as the bounties are generated. It might be I have just been a bit unlucky with the rng.

There is a line in setting that has a radius around the player in which bounties will not spawn. Reduce it to have bounties spwan closer.

i think it' called MinimumNoBountyDistanceLY ... something like that.
