something i was, a little curious about-
there's a proof-of-concept-ish mod (https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=22261.0), that allows you to set up automated drone colonies (complete with progression/industry for producing drones/control gear, in replacement of natural population growth)-
what would thoughts be on, allowing a player to transfer an automated colony to the Dusties via Nex's diplomacy stuff,
if such a thing would be a thematic fit/match with what you've got in mind for their faction/status ect, i mean?

ive mostly been thinking about it, due to the Dusties recognizing if you upgrade a Satellite to Domain-grade tech, and improving their opinion of you in response,

and other interactions like them starting to install some cores on the Forgeship after you hand them over/putting a corrupted/pristine nanoforge from you into use, and RECOGNIZING it as the level of gift/sacrifice it is-
and as someone who's intensely sympathetic to their goals/desires (essentially, survive, as a secondary imperative, and punish/STOP people from committing genocide/biosphere kills as a primary- when you look at the likelyhood that all the major aligned factions have likely Saturation-bombarded a minimum of ONE world, or PK'd another....),
from a Roleplaying perspective, im absolutely the sort who'd make the investment to set up a colony/orbital/deep space facility, and offer it to them as a secondary fallback point/second base of operations, out of a combo of sympathy, and thanks for them essentially welcoming me to Mia's star as a Fellow Resident so EASILY, when it would have been outright understandably to react to my fleet showing up with violence given how easily (from a narrative perspective) i could have sold the data to one of the Anti-Ai Factions...
As well as the Good-faith  sharing of Sensor/nav/com buoy effects after a certain level of influence, combo'd with the stuff with sending droneship patrols at higher event progress, the former being something im reasonably sure is unique amongst vanilla AND modded factions..

You can do this at the moment, both give them planets and Ally / form an Empire with them. Something very odd happens when you ally with them, apparently the Proxy Patrols get a little bit buffed:

is this the mod that adds the second version of threat? I'm trying to figure out why I have two threats and what I can do to get the one with the crazy hive swarms to not tank my framerate as much :( they're both very cool
Not my mod.

I am using Nexerelin in a random sector, will this mod still work or does it only work in vanilla?
There's some minor content that depends on Askonia existing, but the vast majority of the mod works in random sector.

The little text sequence of the haunted starting option is awesome. I wonder if you could add some appropriate spooky imagery to it.

Glad you like it! The Haunted dreams are getting a nice facelift with the next update alongside the addition of the last dream and the Haunted finale. Definitely spookified a bit if not with illustrations.

re: Dustkeeper stuff, more of them to come but it's currently taking a backseat to Haunted (and an upcoming Haunted-adjacent bit of content) and then Sierra stuff (god I really need to make her another quest). Stuff like giving them AI cores to use are ideas I'm aware of and would like to do but everything needs dev time.

ive found all the little combat interactions quite charming!

Question: How many of the
Spoiler
Dustkeeper AI CORES
[close]
can you get in total? I love having a small wing of the support Sentry or Pickets but the regular AI cores are a bit too brave for their own good.

If you talking about comm recruitables:

Spoiler
2 Slivers/Gamma equivalents and 2 Echoes/Beta equivalents for the total of 4.

Per Inventor Racoon when responding to the same issue a few pages back, Lifedrinker isn't supposed to be accessible to the player in the first place.

I'll take a look at it but I will note that Lifedrinker isn't (or shouldn't be) legitimately player-accessible yet.

I've a dumb question but what's the extent that the haunted background does?  I see the obvious stuff like ships randomly gaining alpha cores or flinging themselves at you upon death but is there anything else?  I saw the background mentioned something about a guilt counter, but I've no idea what it plugs into.

Hello! Recently added SotF because I like AI friends. Unfortunately, I have immediately found a completely experience-ruining bug (/s)

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/512356777451323393/1361742144317948075/image.png?ex=67ffdcb3&is=67fe8b33&hm=01c328c86d8c79e116318193c1b3528838e74fdd4b55e2cce26bef9f4ad705cd&

(also pretty sure some of the combat chatter if not all outside missions lack it but also unsure if this is intentional)

Where purple text?!

Ah thank you!

I was going to mention now that I'm thinking about the guilt mechanic, Nexerelin added a "Monstrous" trait to the faction pool, indicating that the faction is either alien in nature or just bloodthirsty monsters.  It's effect is to dramatically reduce the penalty for Saturation Bombardment.  I'm not sure if it's actually implemented on SOTF's end, but it'd be nice to not gain guilt if you're dealing with a faction that has that tag.  They tag tends to be assigned to factions that are usually very happy to saturation bombard other factions.

I haven't engaged with the mechanic (I view RPing as a badguy and SatBombing as more trouble than they worth), but my impression from the wiki and offhand osmosis is that:

Spoiler
The entity behind the guilt-o-meter doesn't care about such distinctions.
[close]

On that note, is there/would be a way to engage with it without being a horrible person?

I believe that the dustkeepers and Sierra won't care if you satbomb the hivers (I vaguely recall reading something like this, unsure if true)

But speaking of things that the dustkeepers should PROBABLY get *** about: TASC allows you to make planetkillers via a structure/industry. I'd imagine the dustkeepers wouldn't be happy about that.

And speaking of the dustkeepers themselves I was surprised to see that you can get through all of Sierra's content without ever having to go to their place. But good fun regardless.
