I mean, clearly they can do it. Heck, even beta cores can clearly do it.

You can't spell "waifu" without "ai"
More to the point, first there is still a crew, and a old fashioned bundle of TNT with a mechanical switch, second, why would the AI rebel? I mean, what benefit would there be for the AI to declare a mutiny lore wise?

I think, lore-wise, you'd be more likely to see a mutiny from the crew than the AI.

Still, I'm all for this idea.

Yes, put the AI core you just ripped out of a battleship trying to kill you into another battleship. What could go wrong.  ???

I'd expect Alpha AI to be smart enough to figure out that challenging player ends in it being reduced to naked core after first time.  :)

If we're going with RP and lore reasoning here then the first time you encounter any kind of REDACTED fleet bigger than a tiny patrol, any ships you have with Alpha Core captains should automatically deploy (or have a chance to deploy at least) as part of the REDACTED fleet (with a small secondary chance that the ship gets heavily damaged or destroyed in the process as the crew attempts to stop it and/or the Alpha Core gets destroyed but you keep the ship). And as such, at that point there should be an option to manually disconnect all Alpha Cores in the fleet before combat (with a much smaller chance that one realizes what is happening and either escapes to fight for the enemy fleet, self-destructs the ship, or gets destroyed if the crew can't contain it).
