Personally I'm rather partial towards the design of the Colossus Mk II. I don't know why, but it sometimes performs a lot better than it's deployment costs suggests. Maybe it is becuase it is capable of spike damage. It's really not something you would want to buy though.

I mean, that's the whole point of pirates in this game. They perform consistently worse than other factions but they still pose a threat if you're not being careful.
