Move storage between colonies
« on: December 01, 2018, 02:08:34 AM »

Add Post Office industry or something else that allows us to share/move items in storage between colonies. It's annoying when you start storing all your rare things in one of your colonies, then you always come back there, because that's where all the rare stuff is, and eventually it's a pain in the ass to move everything once you change the base of operations. It's even worse if you change it multiple times, as you find better locations. It doesn't have to be instantaneous, just make it possible to move items between your colonies without having to manually haul it from one place to the other.

Having to build a separate industry just for this would be an overkill though. Maybe combine into waystation or just give player option to move stashed items between any colonies with spaceports.

Though then we get the question of what happens if fleet carrying your stuff is ambushed by pirates/etc. Which would mean that transporting anything important needs to be done by player anyway.

Yes, it is interesting that the player himself carries his goods, but he could have a way to hire an armed escort to guard both the goods of the game and factions, thus opening a new quest opportunity. It would be cool to escort the freighters and come across several pirates to attack.

I meant this as some infallible mechanism, since it's supposed to make the game more convenient, not less. If something might happen to your stuff on the way, you might as well do it yourself so that there's no chance of anything happening.

Production is already transferred safely to your chosen gathering point every month.

When fighting remnants, I collect a lot of stuff I don't have blueprints for yet. Not to mention that I don't want to order massive amount of weaponry just in case.

I meant moving between storage should be risk-free since production already is.

Moving production is not risk-free -convoy can be destroyed with shortage for 3 months.

I have never had this happen in my game, even when I change Custom Production delivery point relatively often.
