Currently if you set your fleet to full retreat, carriers will still set their fighters to engage and thus lose the 0-flux speed bonus. This can lead to said carriers being overtaken and killed by ships they otherwise could have outrun. While in full retreat mode, carriers should set their fighters to regroup and keep them on regroup.

... unless they have skill that allows to keep 0-flux speed bonus at low flux levels, which is a mandatory pick for any dedicated carrier officer.

Not all carriers will have officers with Helmsmanship 3, especially in the early-game, which is when you're most likely to be running away from something. AI fleets also aren't going to have meta-optimized officer builds.

Moreover, this is a classic Hidden Mechanic problem; as it is, most new players don't realize that they can set Engage / Recall, I suspect.

Not only that, but setting Engage puts flux on the shield.  I did not know this at first.  Once I learned of this, I considered Helmsmanship 3 a critical perk for removing that new weakness.
