Standing close to a friendly station stops weapons from autofiring

Notice both of my Onslaughts refuse to fire on the Radiant even though I'm targeting it. No, my weapons aren't disabled and my TPC have 15 rounds left. I think maybe the Gargoyle drones from the high tech star fortress are projecting an insanely large "stop friendly fire" zone?
