Frigates of a certain new faction are too agile (spoilers)
« on: April 21, 2017, 08:55:53 AM »

Remnant frigates are really annoying to fight using destroyers, because they do nothing but kite and never commit to an attack so you can overpower them, and Lumens always go on to warp away and vent, with no chance to deal any damage to them. I feel like their speed should be reduced by around 20 (putting them at 150 top speed) and maybe a nerf to their Phase Skimmer charges, so they don't just spam it as a get out if jail free card,

I agree.
I had to chase them to a corner with my fleet when I first met them.

But I would suggest another approach : Just give them a more aggressive (reckless?) AI so they fight ( Its an simple and old (maybe faulty) AI )

Agreed on this point. Fighting them one-on-one in a Wolf, they have more speed than me, and if they weren't willing to engage I'd be unable to chase them down. Even so, I needed to be able to use phase skimmer smarter than the AI could in order to deal armor and hull damage. With other frigates on the field, I found myself cornering them against map edges.

Sheer strength I think is fine, but superior speed becomes infuriating if they kite forever and don't hard-engage.

I don't think you can normally access this, but the Lumen has this in its description (after the bit you see when you examine it in the pre-combat screen)

"The Lumen is a fast, multi-purpose frigate best suited to harassment of opposing targets using whichever of its many tools is most appropriate. The Lumen's AI core was noted for its ability to create a dibilitating frustration effect in human captains beyond what its combat specifications would suggest possible."

Damn right, Codex.

Bring a few frigates to surround them. Or just an SO Lasher, it can easily solo those.

It's not a bug, but a feature? Curses!

Also, another ship that goes through them well is a Hyperion (even if it did come with Glitched Sensors and it's not equipped properly)

Honestly I didn't have too many issues with them. I beat two of them with a Kite, Condor and a Hammerhead (D). Missiles and fighters deal with them pretty easily.

Well, they are slower now.
