No matter how much flux dissipation your opponent has or how efficient their shields are, one kinetic weapon will always contribute because it does hard flux.

You don't get hard flux if you outrange your enemy

Beams are an all-or-none type solution. If you design a fleet around them, they can be very effective but on a single ship, you rarely put out enough damage to do more than harass. That said, pure beam fleets are contingent that you don't lose pieces. Once you fall below the critical threshold of overpowering the strongest ship's shields, there's pretty much nothing you can do besides shoot gaps in shield coverage or hope they overload themselves.

I don't deny beams can be deadly but they are pretty boring, IMO.

Beam spam can be an art in itself. Don't hate lasers just because they don't make pew pew noises or big explosions.

Agreed, beam spam is more "turn all beams on autofire and watch the pretty lights without touching the controls".

I like a hardpoint beam off autofire so I do "something" cool.

Beholder class with dual heavy mining beams, triple tac lasers, a light phase lance, IPDAI and ITU. Maneuvering jets help keep your front on everything smaller than a destroyer. Eats anything cruiser or smaller, even when outnumbered.

Three of the scy large flak things

Six of the respecter tri-beams from approlight
