Domain's Return?
« on: August 29, 2016, 07:54:39 PM »

I was just thinking: would it be possible if there could be some sort of a mod where the Gates were back online and the Domain reclaims (or attempts to) the Sector? It would seem pretty interesting how that would change events and some game play. Any thoughts?

While I'm all for giving some special purpose to the gates, I feel DLC is the last thing anyone should be thinking about right now. The base campaign isn't even done yet!

Yeah you put out a good point there though Dr I though I was just thinking if that could be a possible mod or maybe even implemented into the vanilla would be pretty interesting.

Lol that would be a mod, since the game isn't done,  but really if the gates were open the game would have no conflict

Depends on what caused the Gates to close...

Yeah. If the answer to "Why did the gates close?" turns out to be something like "We had to immediately shutdown the gates with no warning to stop the further spread of Borg/Zerg/Tyranids before it was too late.", then opening the gates is going to make things very interesting.

I'm already starting to get hyped for Starsector 2. There's no possible way this is healthy  :D
Anyway, as far as DLC is concerned, I really can't see it happen for Starsector. Perhaps a few cool skins or at most a couple of ships for people who would be willing to give some extra money anyway.

I can;t even imagine a Starsector 2 @.@ Not because I feel it will take a lifetime to come out, but because I feel my eyes are just too attracted by Starsector 1. If anything, I would be thinking of an expansion of Starsector.

That is probably due to how bad a lot of my favorite games did with their sequels, but how good they did with their expansions.

Definitely horse armor.

To my undying shame, I actually bought that Oblivion horse armor... :'(

In my defense I'll say I was really "new" to the whole concept of DLC and was pretty young.

as a totally unbiased observer of this game i think DLC is not a good idea as it would cost theoretical people of which i am not one more money for things that i want for free

also slapping a DLC sticker on something doesn't mean it comes any earlier anyway, meaning it doesn't really help the game any

How would DLC even WORK with a game as moddable as SS? Would you block being able to run mods at all?

Yeah I renamed the topic due to the problems that a DLC presents but the question still lies on how the game would change if there were a mod that sees the Domain's return and the functionality of the Gates
